Today we’d like to introduce you to Marco Baez Vergara.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am originally from Queretaro, Mexico, at the age of 10 months my family moved to London, UK because my father got accepted to King’s College there to study Biochemistry. We spent around 5 years there and then moved back to Mexico eventually living in Nuevo Leon, Monterrey which is right below Texas. When I was in the third grade of elementary school, my father got accepted to MIT, so we moved to Arlington, MA. After three years we moved back to Mexico, and then eventually because of his work, we gained citizenship and moved back to the Boston area and eventually to Palm Beach, FL.
Because of my family’s travels, I have been able to be a part of many cultures and languages and have thankfully gained the ability to quickly adapt to being in a different environment and have gained many friends that I still keep in contact with and visit when I can.
Since 2011, I decided that I really wanted to have a job that I could “create” on my own. I still worked for companies – especially in the IT world, but I really wanted to work in web development and public relations as I saw that I really enjoyed helping companies grow, have the best tools at their disposal and allow for a great customer relationship. So, along with my studies in Computer Science in college, I began studying many different fields on my own, such as different programming languages, inbound marketing methodologies, key design and content concepts, database management, and many more. Furthermore, because I used to be a singer and musician for local band D.V.N.O, which played at Sunfest, I feel that that that made me really enjoy bringing life to each project that I came in contact with.
At first, it took me some time to get customers, but as I went and as I worked on getting found on the web (through SEO/Search Engine Optimization), my customer base grew and as I grew, they grew with me which eventually led me to work for my company full-time. I have always had the view that everyone I work with would eventually get to know one another and become a collective of workers looking out for each other just as I try to always look out for them the best way that I can.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not always been smooth because at the beginning there were many fields that I was initially not familiar with so I had to into the books and to every help I could get. However, as I kept learning bit by bit, I began to feel confident and take projects that were more difficult than the ones before. One thing that has always kept me going is that I have always enjoyed being challenged, so getting into something new is always very enjoyable to me. Also, whenever something seems impossible, I always turn to God (I am a believer in Christ Jesus) and He has always helped me through to this day.
Emerald Sky, LLC – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Emerald Sky focuses on bringing companies to the map by creating a company brand that focuses on marketing even while we are building their website. in other words, we believe that in order for a company’s design, feel and marketing to be successful it must have a positive impact with their customers and create a viral response. Our services include web design and development, inbound marketing, public relations, SEO, database management/creation, graphic design, and more.
One of the things that I feel makes us stand out is that we are always frank with our customers in the ways that they could succeed or when there is something that needs a definite shift in direction. I personally will tell a customer if they need to make a serious shift in their website, marketing plan or even the way they portray themselves in the media. Sometimes, this is hard for some customers to hear, but I feel that they always appreciate it when they see the result of going through hard changes. I very much enjoy helping out and being detailed in my work with each company and I am very happy to see each one of my clients succeed to their utmost potential.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me, success means that you are able to work to the best of your abilities and this produces a way for you to be able to spend time with the ones you love, but most importantly, a way for God to use you in His plan. I feel that the most successful men and women are the ones that are the most human in everything they do. There can be many things to do in a business and capital can be abundant, but success is only measured by how you can enjoy what God has given you and the ones He has put you with, and how much He could show love to others through you.
