Life and Work with Ximena Medina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ximena Medina.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always loved makeup! In high school, I did a lot of friends makeup. At the age of 24, I decided to become a makeup artist. I began by assisting an amazing makeup artist Kelly Montes. She showed me the ins and outs about skincare and the business. I received an amazing amount of support by the people around. Word of mouth is powerful! Now, I am a freelance makeup artist from bridal makeup to Halloween makeup. I am also officially the makeup artist for Yes You Can! before and after success stories on Despierta America on Univision. I love making people feel pretty!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was not a smooth road. There were many times I considered quitting. I stayed up late nights practicing with friends and family just to have pictures for myself to study later at home. If you want it bad enough you will practice and make it happen. Don’t give up!

Please tell us about Mena Makeup.
I love glam makeup, and it is mainly what I’m known for. To be honest, my passion is special effects makeup. If I could do Halloween makeup all year round I would be happy! Scars, blood, and glitter! I try my hardest to bring the clients vision to life.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
YouTube has been my best friend throughout this journey, They’ve given a channel for my favorite influencers to provide me with awesome information, from tutorials to products review.
