Hi Slevin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Slevin Kaaine, an independent artist, producer, and creative from South Florida. My journey in music started as a teenager, coming up around Florida’s underground music scene and learning early that building something meaningful takes more than talent — it takes consistency, vision, resilience, and the ability to evolve.
Over the years, I’ve developed my sound through producing, recording, performing, studying audio production, creating visual content, and building my own independent brand and collective, 777 MOB. I’ve experienced different sides of the industry, from being around emerging artists and creative movements early on to performing live, releasing my own projects, and learning how to operate independently.
My path hasn’t been linear. I’ve had periods where life forced me to rebuild financially, personally, and creatively, but those experiences became part of the substance behind my music. Instead of allowing setbacks to stop the story, I’ve used them to sharpen my discipline and give me something real to communicate.
Today, I’m focused on building Slevin Kaaine into more than just an artist name. I’m developing an ecosystem around music, production, visuals, storytelling, entrepreneurship, and community. I’m currently creating new music, expanding my presence throughout South Florida, pursuing performance and collaboration opportunities, and developing my upcoming Divine Timing era.
Ultimately, my story is still being written. I’m at a stage where years of experience, lessons, setbacks, creativity, and preparation are beginning to connect — and I’m intentional about making the next chapter the strongest one yet.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been continuing to believe in my vision during periods when my circumstances didn’t reflect where I knew I was capable of going.
I’ve dealt with financial setbacks, transportation and housing challenges, career changes, personal and family situations, broken relationships, and periods where I had to essentially rebuild from the ground up while still pursuing music. I’ve also experienced the difficult side of the music industry — seeing relationships change, being misunderstood, watching opportunities pass by, and learning that being around talented or successful people doesn’t automatically create success for you. At some point, you have to build your own foundation.
Another challenge has been learning how to balance being an artist with being a businessman. Creativity comes naturally to me, but I’ve had to learn the importance of ownership, contracts, publishing, royalties, branding, consistency, networking, financial discipline, and understanding the business behind the art.
Some of my greatest lessons have actually come from the moments when things didn’t work out. They forced me to become more resourceful, accountable, disciplined, and intentional. I stopped looking at setbacks as proof that I should quit and started looking at them as information about what I needed to change.
I’m still navigating challenges today, but my perspective is different now. I’m not waiting until life becomes perfect to move forward. I’m working, creating, rebuilding, and developing my next chapter simultaneously. That resilience has become a major part of both who I am and what my music represents.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m Slevin Kaaine, an independent recording artist, producer, songwriter, and creative based in South Florida. My work is centered around creating experiences rather than limiting myself to one sound or genre. I pull from hip-hop, trap, alternative, melodic, emo, electronic, Southern and experimental influences while using production, songwriting, vocal performance and visual storytelling to build a world around the music.
What sets me apart is the way I think about perspective and storytelling. I can approach an idea from first person, second person and third person while also thinking like the narrator or director watching the entire story unfold. I’m interested in what the artist is experiencing, what the listener is interpreting, what the critics or doubters may be saying, and what the bigger message becomes when all of those perspectives collide. That mindset influences how I write, produce and structure records.
I’m also very hands-on creatively. I produce and develop sounds, study arrangement and sound design, write and record my own material, contribute to the visual direction, and think about how every piece connects to the larger identity of Slevin Kaaine and 777 MOB. I don’t want the song, artwork, video, performance and message to feel like unrelated pieces — I want them to feel like they came from the same universe.
What I’m most proud of is that after years of evolving, experiencing different sides of life and the music industry, and having plenty of reasons to stop, I still have the hunger to learn and reinvent myself. I’ve performed alongside emerging movements, released independent projects, developed my production skills, and continued building my catalog and creative identity without allowing one era of my life to define the next.
Right now, I’m developing Divine Timing, which represents where all of those experiences are beginning to converge. The goal isn’t simply to make another collection of songs. I’m building a body of work with its own sonic identity, production language, visuals, themes and philosophy.
Ultimately, I believe what separates me is that I don’t just want people to hear what I create — I want them to enter the world behind it, think about it from multiple perspectives, and discover something new each time they return to it.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that you can’t force timing, but you have to be prepared when your time comes. For years, I thought working hard automatically meant everything should happen when I wanted it to. Life taught me that preparation, patience, discipline and faith are just as important as ambition.
I’ve also learned not to measure my journey against someone else’s timeline. I’ve watched people I knew personally reach different levels of success, watched opportunities come and go, and experienced moments where I questioned why certain things hadn’t happened for me yet. Eventually, I realized comparison can distract you from the work God is doing within your own life.
Another major lesson has been accountability. Not every setback came from someone else. There are decisions I could have made differently, opportunities I could have handled better, and periods where I could have been more disciplined. Being able to recognize that without destroying my confidence has helped me grow tremendously. I can acknowledge my mistakes, learn from them and still believe in where I’m going.
I’ve learned that relationships, money, attention and opportunities can change quickly, so my foundation has to be deeper than external validation. I have to know who I am when people believe in me and when they don’t, when things are going well and when I’m rebuilding.
That’s part of why the phrase Divine Timing means so much to me. It isn’t about sitting around waiting for something miraculous to happen. To me, divine timing means having faith while doing the work — becoming prepared enough that when the right opportunity arrives, I’m ready to recognize it, respect it and make something meaningful from it.
The biggest lesson is simple: don’t rush the season, but don’t waste it either.
