Art & Life with Dani Bassett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dani Bassett.

Dani, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’m a creative from Miami, Florida who currently resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida which is far from pretty much everything. At a young age I focused on all things art and technology. I remember my dad would take me to the library as a kid and I would go straight to the Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh books rather than the Hungry Caterpillar. As I grew older, my passion for storytelling developed. I use the art of graphic design and modeling and combine them by manipulation of light and color. My androgynous features and curvy body type has helped me stand out in a sea of familiarity.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Currently I design artwork for brands, including logos, stationary, social media content, and more. I pay attention to exactly what my client wants. I try to build a connection with them to know how to portray their brand along with their personality through the artwork. Direction and communication is huge and it helps the clients brand and helps me as an artist. Late nights are where you’ll find me deep into my mind creating art pieces freely. Depending on what I’m feeling physically and emotionally I’ll create what I call light pieces that express happiness and hope, and then I’ll create dark pieces which is a form of me dealing with my own turmoil and letting it out rather than damaging my mental/emotional health. Lastly, I’m a curvy androgynous model. I struggled with my strong facial features my whole life and once I accepted that I’m an extremely feminine but androgynous force, there was no stopping the future that’s to come for me. Someone put me on paper mag, because I’m ready! Call Drew Elliot!

What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
Truthfully, like anything in life, you have to put yourself out there. I’m living by the term, “shoot your shot”. You never know what connection you can build with anyone really unless you take that step and lean in. Most of the time it can seem a little intimidating but once you reach out, most of the artist taking off now are very kind and very sociable. I’m a very social person, if there’s an artist out there starting up or a little more seasoned and needs a friend, hit me up! I’m always ready to talk and try my best to speak life into those around me.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
