Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Calderón.
Hi Samantha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my career right out of college, picking up copywriting gigs on Craigslist. I wrote website pages, blog posts, email sequences, SEO descriptions, and everything in between. I even wrote and voiced a local radio ad.
Looking back, those early scrappy projects were the best training I never paid for. They forced me to think on my feet, write fast, and write well, and that versatility eventually opened doors to full-time roles at creative agencies, where I got to write for clients across dozens of industries.
Over time, my role grew well beyond writing. I started leading full marketing campaigns from the initial brainstorm all the way through execution. Along the way, I noticed that the most successful campaigns were always driven by people who were passionate about the work itself, not just the results.
After years in the agency world, I started craving more freedom and the chance to work directly with founders I believed in. So I took the leap, left the stability of agency life, and started my own business.
Today, I work with purpose-driven entrepreneurs who are out to solve real problems and make a meaningful difference for the people they serve. I bring together my background in copywriting and strategic marketing with a genuine passion for helping others succeed, so my clients can focus on doing the work they love.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
After a few years in business, I faced a new challenge: AI. One of my long-term copywriting clients, a marketing agency, decided to part ways with me. They figured generative AI would be faster and cheaper. It stung, but I understood the logic.
A few months later, they came back.
What AI couldn’t replicate was the years of context I had built up. I knew their clients inside and out. I knew their brand voices, their unique selling points, and the subtle details that made each piece of content feel authentic. No prompt could substitute for that depth of knowledge and relationship.
That experience was a turning point. It reinforced something I had always believed: real value lies not just in producing content, but in truly understanding the people and businesses behind it.
At the same time, I’m not naive enough to think AI is going away. So rather than resist it, I’ve been learning to use it, finding ways to integrate it into my process while doubling down on what I bring that AI simply can’t: real relationships, strategic thinking, and a genuine understanding of the humans behind every brand. That’s where I’m focusing my energy as I continue to evolve my business.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Right now, I specialize in helping entrepreneurs launch their passion projects, whether that’s a bestselling book, podcast, digital product, or thriving membership community. I have a consulting program that guides people through every stage of the process, from defining their target audience to building out their website, growing their social media presence, setting up their email strategy, and earning press coverage.
My goal is to take the overwhelm out of launching, so people can stop second-guessing themselves and start moving forward with confidence. What sets me apart is the combination of strategic marketing expertise, real-world copywriting experience, and a genuine commitment to the people I work with. I don’t just hand over a template and call it a day. I’m there with them through the whole process.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Being a solopreneur can feel pretty isolating at times. When you work for yourself, there’s no team to bounce ideas off, no colleague to grab coffee with, and no one who truly gets the rollercoaster of running your own business. That’s why I make it a point to actively seek out and connect with other solopreneurs. Whether it’s a virtual co-working session, a DM conversation, or just cheering someone on from the sidelines, those connections mean a lot to me. If you’re a fellow solopreneur, I’d love to connect!
