Exploring Life & Business with Tatum Fritts of Skin by Tatum

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatum Fritts.

Hi Tatum, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been an aesthetician for over 26 years and have proudly owned Skin by Tatum for the past 19. Looking back, I realize my career has never been about following trends—it has always been about asking, “How can I help my clients achieve healthier skin in the safest, smartest, and most effective way possible?”

Early in my career, I fell in love with the science of the skin. That passion led me to become an educator, teaching 48 different classes through the International Dermal Institute while continuing to advance my own education every chance I had. Teaching taught me something invaluable: knowledge only has value if you can communicate it in a way people truly understand. Many professionals know the science, but my passion has always been helping people connect the dots. I don’t just tell clients what to do—I explain why, help them identify the gaps in their routines, and create personalized plans that fit their skin, lifestyle, goals, and budget. Education has always been one of the greatest gifts I can give my clients because I believe my value isn’t just in performing treatments—it’s in helping people truly understand their skin. When clients understand what’s happening beneath the surface, where the gaps are in their routine, and why each recommendation matters, they’re empowered to make better decisions long after they leave my treatment room.

I quickly realized that beautiful skin isn’t created with a cookie-cutter treatment plan. Every face tells a different story, every lifestyle is different, and every client deserves to be heard before a treatment is ever recommended. Every appointment begins with listening. Whether it’s an in-person or virtual consultation, I take the time to understand each person’s health history, lifestyle, concerns, and goals. I use advanced tools, including skin analysis technology, to educate my clients and create a roadmap that is completely customized to them. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all skincare. I believe in creating personalized systems that combine education, clean ingredients, advanced technologies, and regenerative therapies to help each client achieve their healthiest skin. My goal has never been to fit people into treatments—it’s to build a system that works specifically for the individual sitting in front of me.

Long before clean beauty became a movement, I built Skin by Tatum around clean, results-driven ingredients and a holistic philosophy. My background in alternative medicine taught me to look beyond the surface and understand how the body works as a whole. I’ve always believed skincare should work with the skin—not against it. Every ingredient should have a purpose, and I wanted to combine the highest-quality ingredients from around the world with advanced technologies that help deliver those ingredients where they can make the greatest impact. To me, great skincare isn’t about having more products—it’s about creating a system. Every product should have a purpose, every step should build upon the one before it, and every ingredient should work synergistically with the next to create healthier, stronger skin. I love teaching clients not only what to use, but why they’re using it, how to properly layer their products, and how to build a skincare system where every product has a purpose and works synergistically with the others—instead of ending up with five random products that don’t work together. When people understand the system behind their skincare, they achieve better results with less confusion and much more confidence.

That philosophy only became stronger through my own personal health journey. It gave me an even deeper appreciation for the connection between overall wellness and healthy skin and naturally led me into regenerative aesthetics. To me, regenerative medicine wasn’t a change in direction—it was the evolution of everything I had believed from the very beginning: support the body’s ability to heal, restore function, and create lasting results.

Over the years, I’ve intentionally built Skin by Tatum to give clients options instead of limitations. Rather than relying on a single device or one signature treatment, I’ve invested in more than 14 advanced technologies because I believe every client deserves a completely customized approach. Some clients need a relaxing, no-downtime treatment before an event. Others are looking for scar revision, skin tightening, hair restoration, pre- and post-surgical healing, pigmentation correction, or regenerative therapies. My job isn’t to fit someone into a treatment—it’s to create the right combination of education, technology, ingredients, and protocols to help them achieve their goals.

That same passion eventually inspired me to create Glow by Tatum. After years of researching ingredients and searching the world for formulations that aligned with my philosophy, I wanted to develop a skincare line that would continue supporting my clients between visits. It became a natural extension of everything I believe: combining science, clean ingredients, advanced technology, and education to help people achieve healthier skin from the inside out.

More than two decades later, I’m still researching, still learning, and still excited by every advancement that can genuinely improve my clients’ lives. I don’t follow the industry—I follow the science, the results, and what’s best for the person sitting in front of me. My mission has never changed. I want every client who walks through my doors to feel heard, understood, educated, and confident knowing their treatment plan was designed specifically for them. For me, skincare has never been about chasing perfection. It’s about restoring confidence, supporting the body’s ability to heal, and helping people become the healthiest, most confident version of themselves.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change it. Every challenge has shaped who I am as a business owner and practitioner.

Owning a business for nearly two decades has taught me that growth rarely happens inside your comfort zone. There have been economic ups and downs, constantly evolving technology, changing trends, and moments where I had to make difficult decisions without knowing exactly how they would turn out. I’ve invested in advanced education, new technologies, and innovative treatments long before they became mainstream because I’ve always believed my clients deserve the very best—not just what’s popular at the moment.

One of the biggest challenges has actually been choosing not to follow the industry. It would have been much easier to offer the same treatments everyone else was offering, but that’s never been who I am. I’ve always believed in doing what’s right for the client, even if it means taking the harder path, continuing to learn, or questioning conventional approaches. Building a practice around customized treatment plans instead of one-size-fits-all services takes more time, more education, and more commitment, but it’s also what has allowed me to build lasting relationships with my clients.

My own personal health journey has also presented challenges, but in many ways it became one of my greatest teachers. It deepened my understanding of healing, resilience, and the connection between overall wellness and healthy skin. Instead of seeing obstacles as setbacks, I’ve tried to see them as opportunities to learn something that ultimately makes me a better practitioner for the people who trust me with their care.

If there’s one lesson I’ve learned over the years, it’s that success isn’t about avoiding challenges—it’s about continuing to grow through them. Every obstacle has pushed me to become a better educator, a better listener, and a better problem solver. Those experiences have shaped not only my business but also the way I care for every client who walks through my doors.

We’ve been impressed with Skin by Tatum, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Skin by Tatum was built on one simple philosophy: no two people should ever receive the same treatment plan.

For more than 26 years, I’ve believed that skincare isn’t about following trends or selling the latest product—it’s about understanding the person sitting in front of you. Every client’s skin, lifestyle, health history, and goals are different, which is why every consultation begins with listening. I take the time to educate my clients, perform advanced skin analysis, identify the gaps in their current routine, and create a completely customized roadmap designed specifically for them.

One of the things that truly sets Skin by Tatum apart is our ability to combine multiple modalities instead of relying on a single treatment. Over the years, I’ve invested in more than 14 advanced technologies because I believe every technology has strengths, and the best results come from knowing how to combine them—not from believing one device does everything. Whether someone is looking for a relaxing, no-downtime treatment before an event, scar revision, skin tightening, pigmentation correction, hair restoration, pre- or post-surgical healing, regenerative therapies, or a complete facial transformation, every protocol is built around the individual rather than the machine.

For clients looking for the most comprehensive experience, I created my signature Half-Day and Full-Day Transformations. These immersive treatments allow me to spend several uninterrupted hours with one client, addressing every layer of the aging process. We begin by improving skin health and quality, correcting concerns such as pigmentation, redness, hydration, texture, and overall skin function. After a short break, we transition into lifting, tightening, contouring, and regenerative therapies to restore structure and support long-term skin health. By thoughtfully combining multiple technologies, advanced ingredients, and regenerative protocols into one customized experience, we’re able to accomplish in a single day what often takes months with traditional, one-treatment-at-a-time approaches.

I’m also incredibly passionate about education. As a former educator for the International Dermal Institute, I’ve always believed that one of the greatest gifts I can give my clients is understanding. I don’t simply recommend products or treatments—I explain why I’m recommending them, teach clients how ingredients work together, show them how to properly layer their skincare, and help them build a skincare system that delivers long-term results instead of ending up with five random products that don’t work together.

One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is creating Glow by Tatum. After spending more than 26 years customizing treatments and blending ingredients in my treatment room, I realized I wasn’t looking for another skincare line—I was creating one. Every formula was inspired by protocols I’ve refined over decades while treating thousands of clients with concerns like pigmentation, acne, sensitive skin, and aging. I wanted to bottle the combinations that consistently delivered results in my treatment room.

Glow by Tatum was built around the same philosophy as my practice: clean, purposeful skincare where every ingredient has a job to do. Rather than relying on fillers, unnecessary additives, or ingredients that simply look good on a label, I focused on highly active formulations designed to work synergistically as complete skincare systems. Each formula targets a specific skin concern instead of trying to be everything to everyone, and each is enhanced with 10.8 billion umbilical cord-derived exosomes to support healthier, stronger, more resilient-looking skin. It’s not a skincare line that was handed off to a chemist to create. It’s the result of decades of treating real clients, solving real skin concerns, refining protocols in my treatment room, and transforming those proven combinations into products people can use at home.

What I’m probably known for most is solving problems that others have struggled to solve. I love taking on challenging cases—whether that’s aging skin, scars, post-surgical healing, pigmentation, hair restoration, or clients who simply feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start. My job isn’t to sell someone a treatment—it’s to solve their skin concerns by creating the right combination of education, technology, clean ingredients, regenerative therapies, and customized systems for their unique goals.

More than anything, I want people to know that when they walk into Skin by Tatum, they’ll never be treated like a number. They’ll be heard, educated, and cared for. Every recommendation is made with one goal in mind: creating the best possible outcome for that individual, because great skin is never about one product or one treatment—it’s about creating the right system for the right person.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?

Every journey starts with understanding the individual and creating a personalized roadmap based on their unique skin, lifestyle, and goals.

I’m also passionate about education and love collaborating with like-minded professionals, wellness practitioners, physicians, brands, media outlets, podcasts, and content creators who share a commitment to innovation, regenerative medicine, and helping people achieve healthier skin. Whether it’s speaking at events, participating in interviews, creating educational content, hosting live conversations, or collaborating on social media, I genuinely enjoy sharing knowledge because I believe education elevates our entire industry. I’m always excited to partner with people and organizations that value authenticity, science, innovation, and helping people make informed decisions about their skin.

For those who aren’t local to South Florida, my Glow by Tatum skincare line allows clients across the country to experience the same philosophy I use in my treatment room. Through virtual consultations, customized skincare systems, and ongoing education, I’m able to help people wherever they are.
