Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren.
Hi Lauren, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my vintage business (L.A. Boudoir Miami-More than Just Vintage) in 2010. I graduated from college 1 year prior and was working at the Florida Grand Operas costume department. I always had a passion and love for collecting vintage clothing, accessories and some house items. Fast forward to today, 2026 and my business is currently online and I do pop-up events through out South Florida.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No definitely not a smooth road. The biggest struggle was shifting my brick and mortar store to online only. It took several months and lots of learning to get my website together.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
L.A. Boudoir Miami is an online vintage store that carries items for Men, women, and children at affordable prices. We have become known for our “Pin-up and Vintage Lingerie” which has won us “Best of Miami” twice by Miami New Times and have been featured in Brides Magazine. Deco Drive, Miami Indulge Magazine and many more publications.
L.A. Boudoir actually stands for “Lauren Arkin,” and the word “Boudoir” means closet in French and when I opened the store, I wanted to make it feel and look as if you were shopping in a very feminine, old Hollywood type closet.
L.A. Boudoir Miami was located in the MiMo District for 6.5 years until everything was transferred to become what is now online based vintage store so I could have a more flexible work/life balance.
What sets us apart from other vintage stores both online and brick and mortar is we strive to bring the best quality vintage for an affordable price. I know that from being an avid collector, I hate when I go into a vintage store and see a dress that isn’t in great condition for the same price as that of a new dress. I love to see people’s face light up when they found a treasure that they can afford and really cherish it. As a company, I am most proud of how we have managed to stay true to our business motto despite how the rest of the retail industry has dramatically changed over the last eight years.
How do you define success?
Good hard question….I feel success is when you achieve a goal. If you are able to get to a certain point either with help or without and even changing steps along the way, as long as you make it, it was a success. It doesn’t mean its profitable or easy.
