Community Highlights: Meet Ohav Saias of Babu Bath

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ohav Saias.

Hi Ohav, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Babu Bath started from a very personal need. After my first son, Pele, was born prematurely at 34 weeks, bath time became one of the most stressful parts of our routine. He was so tiny and fragile, and after my own difficult recovery, constantly bending and kneeling over a traditional bathtub was uncomfortable and honestly felt unsafe.

I started searching for a better option—something elevated, supportive, and designed to grow with a baby—but I couldn’t find anything that truly solved the problem. I turned to my husband, who is an engineer, and asked, “Why doesn’t this exist?” That question became the beginning of Babu Bath.

By the time I was pregnant with my second son, Mael, I was determined to make the idea real. I told my husband, “I’m not having this baby until I have a prototype at home!” We worked to bring that first version to life, and having the prototype ready when Mael arrived allowed me to experience firsthand how much of a difference an elevated bath could make.

From there, we spent 2 years designing, testing, refining, and investing our own savings into creating a product that would make bath time easier, more comfortable, and more enjoyable for parents. We launched with presales in 2025, and since then, Babu Bath has grown from an idea born in our home into a company serving families across the country.

What has been most meaningful is hearing from parents who say Babu Bath has changed their everyday routine—whether they are recovering postpartum, experiencing back pain, living in a home without a traditional bathtub, or simply wanting bath time to feel less stressful.

Then, in June, I had another premature baby. I began using Babu Bath with her every day, and it reminded me all over again why I created it. Experiencing that vulnerable postpartum period again—and seeing how much easier the bath made one of our most important daily routines—brought the entire journey full circle for me.

I’m not just the founder of Babu Bath; I’m still the mom who needed this product in the first place. That keeps the mission incredibly personal and continues to drive everything we do.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. Creating a brand-new physical product from scratch comes with a steep learning curve, and almost every stage took longer, cost more, and required more problem-solving than we originally expected.

One of the biggest challenges was turning an idea that worked in our home into a product that could be safely manufactured at scale. We went through years of prototypes, testing, design changes, certifications, manufacturing delays, and unexpected costs. My husband and I invested our own savings into the company, so every decision felt very personal. There was no large team or endless budget behind us—we had to learn as we went and be extremely resourceful.

Another challenge was introducing a product that created an entirely new category. Most parents are used to inexpensive plastic baby baths, so we had to clearly communicate why Babu Bath is different and why it is worth the investment. We weren’t simply selling another bathtub; we were asking people to rethink what bath time could look and feel like.

I was also building the company while raising young children and going through pregnancies and premature births. There were moments when I was answering customers, working through manufacturing issues, and running the business from the hospital or during the postpartum period. It was emotionally and physically demanding, but it also kept me deeply connected to the reason I started Babu Bath.

There have been setbacks, delays, and plenty of moments when things did not go according to plan. But every challenge forced us to improve the product, strengthen the business, and become more confident in our mission. Looking back, the road was not smooth—but it was absolutely worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Babu Bath is an elevated, three-stage baby bath designed to make bath time easier, more comfortable, and more enjoyable for both parents and babies.

I created Babu Bath after my first son was born prematurely. During my postpartum recovery, I quickly realized how uncomfortable and stressful it was to kneel and bend over a traditional bathtub while trying to safely bathe such a tiny baby. I searched for an elevated option that felt supportive, practical, and beautiful enough to keep in the home, but I could not find one. That is when I turned to my husband, who is an engineer, and asked, “Why doesn’t this exist?”

By the time I was pregnant with my second son, Mael, I was determined to bring the idea to life. I told my husband, “I’m not having this baby until I have a prototype at home.” We created that first prototype, used it with Mael, and immediately saw how much of a difference it made.

What sets Babu Bath apart is that it was designed from a real mother’s experience, not simply as another baby product. It brings the baby up to a comfortable standing height and has a supportive, hands-free design so parents can focus on washing, bonding, and enjoying bath time without constantly struggling to hold the baby in position.

It is also one of the largest baby bathtubs on the market and is designed to grow with a child from the newborn stage through approximately four years old. That makes it especially valuable for families who do not have a traditional bathtub in their home, because Babu Bath can become their child’s primary bath for years rather than just a short-term newborn product.

Quality was extremely important to us from the beginning. Babu Bath is made to feel substantial, look beautiful in the home, and last through multiple stages—and even multiple children. We wanted to create something parents could truly rely on, not another baby product they would use for a few months and quickly outgrow.

I am most proud that Babu Bath solves different problems for different families. It helps parents recovering postpartum, those experiencing back or knee pain, grandparents and caregivers, and families living in homes with only a shower. More than anything, it allows parents to feel comfortable and present instead of rushing through a routine that has become physically difficult.

In June, I welcomed another premature baby, and I have been using Babu Bath with her every day. That experience has brought the journey full circle and reminded me exactly why I created it. I am not only the founder of Babu Bath; I am still the mother who needed this product in the first place. That personal connection continues to guide the brand and everything we create.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I would love to leave other mothers and women with this: **do not wait until you feel completely ready.** Most people never feel fully ready when they begin something new.

Babu Bath started with a problem I deeply believed needed to be solved. I did not know everything about product development, manufacturing, or building a company, but I was willing to learn, work hard, and keep going when things became difficult.

When you truly believe in something, start. Care deeply about the people you are serving, listen to your customers, and put passion into every part of what you build. There will always be challenges and reasons to doubt yourself, but women—especially mothers—are capable of far more than we sometimes realize.

You do not need to have every answer. You just need the courage to take the first step and the determination to keep moving forward.
