Today we’d like to introduce you to Albert Orta.
Hi Albert, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and I’m the first-generation son of Cuban parents who came to the U.S. during the Mariel boatlift in the 1980s. They always taught me the importance of working hard and making the most of every opportunity. That mindset has stayed with me throughout my life.
I got my real estate license in 2013 and started out doing rentals, then moved into selling homes, and eventually worked with business clients as well. But during COVID, the Real Estate Market did boom but after that slowed down and real estate sales were down for me. I stumbled into trading using apps like Robinhood. It honestly just clicked. Later on, I downloaded Webull and TradingviewI downloaded every app related to stocks. I started learning so much about investing, and trading. What started as curiosity quickly turned into something I couldn’t stop diving into. I spent countless hours studying the markets, making mistakes and losing money like everyone else, but learning from them and getting better every day.
In 2022, I decided to take trading seriously. I signed up for an online trading academy to learn how to trade professionally, focused on the basics of trading and futures trading, and after putting in months of consistent work, I eventually became a funded trader with different firms. Today, I’m fortunate to say I’m a consistently profitable trader and investor. I really enjoy the challenge of it. There’s always something new to learn, and it definitely tests your patience, forces you to stay disciplined, and pushes you to keep improving every day.
Now I’m in a place where I want to give back. I’m slowly building an online community where I can share what I’ve learned and help others who are interested in trading and investing. I know how overwhelming it can feel when you’re starting out because I’ve been there myself. If I can help someone shorten that learning curve or avoid some of the mistakes I made, that’s a win for me.
Looking back, my path wasn’t exactly what I expected, but I’m glad it led me here. I’ve found something I’m genuinely passionate about, and I’m excited to keep growing while helping others grow along the way.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I lost money. I overtraded. I chased trades I shouldn’t have taken, let emotions get the best of me, and blew up a few small accounts. There were days I questioned whether I was wasting my time or if I just wasn’t cut out for it. But instead of quitting, I became obsessed with figuring out what I was doing wrong. I realized successful trading isn’t about getting rich overnight—it’s about discipline, patience, managing risk, and showing up every day willing to learn.
In 2022, I decided to stop treating trading like a hobby and start treating it like a profession. I enrolled in an online trading academy, dedicated myself to learning futures trading, and spent countless hours studying, practicing, and refining my process. Eventually, all those setbacks started paying off. I became a funded trader, and today I’m fortunate to be a consistently profitable trader and long-term investor.
The biggest thing trading has taught me isn’t how to make money—it’s how to control myself. It’s taught me patience, accountability, and the importance of sticking to a plan even when things don’t go your way. Those lessons have carried over into every part of my life.
Now I’m focused on giving back. I’m building an online community where I can teach people what I’ve learned, share both my wins and my failures, and hopefully help others avoid some of the mistakes that cost me time and money. Looking back, I’m actually grateful for the struggles because they shaped who I am today. If my journey proves anything, it’s that persistence can take you a lot further than talent alone.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Miami is home to me—it’s where I was born and raised, so it will always have a special place in my heart. What I love most about this city is the diversity, the culture, and the energy. You have people from all over the world bringing different ideas, businesses, and perspectives together, and that’s what makes Miami unique.
I also really enjoy seeing the economic growth and transformation Miami has experienced over the past few years. The city has become a major hub for entrepreneurs, investors, technology, finance, and businesses relocating here. Watching Miami continue to grow and create new opportunities is exciting, especially because I’ve been able to experience that growth firsthand through real estate and now through the financial markets.
If I had to pick something I like least, it would probably be the traffic. Anyone who’s lived in Miami knows getting around can be challenging, especially with how much the city has grown. But honestly, I think that’s also a sign of the growth happening here. More people are coming because Miami has become a place where they see opportunity.
At the end of the day, Miami is my hometown. It’s where I grew up, built my career, found my passion for trading and investing, and it’s a city I’m proud to represent.
