Today we’d like to introduce you to Lornea Lahens.
Hi Lornea, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey with LoLo Boutiques began in 2020\. At the time, I was working at Walmart and also serving as an assistant manager at Burger King\. While I appreciated my work experience, I reached a point where I felt ready to create something of my own and explore my creativity\.
The idea started from something simple — I was doing locs \(dreads\) for someone close to me, and I realized I had a natural talent and passion for doing hair\. I decided to take a chance and start offering loc services\. Before long, I was booking clients consistently and even providing house\-call appointments to make my services more accessible\.
As my business continued to grow, I expanded into hair growth products, which inspired me to create the name LoLo Boutiques\. Around that same time, COVID\-19 began, and I adapted by adding mask sales to my business as well\.
What started as a personal skill turned into an entrepreneurial journey that allowed me to discover my creativity, build confidence, and learn how to adapt as a business owner\. LoLo Boutiques represents growth, determination, and my passion for creating something of my own\.
Like many entrepreneurs, my journey hasn’t been a straight line. Around 2023, I took a break from the business to focus on other opportunities. In 2025, I relaunched LoLo Boutiques and enjoyed reconnecting with my passion for entrepreneurship. Later that year, I stepped away again as I shifted my focus to new goals.
Although LoLo Boutiques is currently on pause, I don’t see it as the end of the journey. I plan to bring it back when the time is right, with an even stronger vision and new ideas. Every experience along the way has helped me grow, and I’m excited for what the future holds.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has taught me something valuable. One of the biggest struggles was balancing entrepreneurship while working a full-time job. Building a business takes time, energy, and consistency, and there were moments when it was difficult to juggle everything.
Like many small business owners, I also had to adapt during the COVID-19 pandemic. While it created new opportunities, such as selling masks, it also brought uncertainty and required me to think creatively to keep the business moving forward.
Another challenge was knowing when to step back. There were times when life and other responsibilities had to come first, which led me to pause the business. Although that wasn’t an easy decision, it gave me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. Looking back, I don’t see those pauses as failures—they were part of my journey. They taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of building a business with a strong foundation. Those lessons are exactly what will help me make LoLo Boutiques even stronger in the future.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about Orlando is the creativity, diversity, and opportunity the city brings. Orlando is a place where people from different backgrounds come together, and there is always something new happening — whether it’s in beauty, fashion, entertainment, or small businesses. I love that the city gives entrepreneurs and creatives the opportunity to grow, connect, and share their talents with others.
One thing I would like to see improve is the continued support and visibility for small local businesses. There are so many talented entrepreneurs in the area, and I believe creating more opportunities for small brands and creatives to be recognized would help the community grow even stronger.
Overall, Orlando is a city full of energy, possibilities, and people chasing their dreams, which is what makes it such a special place.
