Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Welch.
Joseph, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We began in 2004 as The Elevated Photography Company. We utilized a vehicle mounted 50 telescoping mast which was somewhat similar to what a news van would use. We used that system until the advent and popularity of drones in 2014. We now have the ability to provide aerial photos on a much bigger and broader scale with the use of drones/quad-copters.
Our business also consists of photographing the interiors of homes and commercial properties. We stay very busy and thoroughly enjoy what we do. We are very easy to work with and we take our time on the job to get it done right. We are perfectionists, patient, and take pride in what we do. In addition to covering all of Florida we have also worked in other southeastern states such as North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia.
Our specialties include interior/exterior photography, aerial, and dusk. We shoot our interiors via HDR (high dynamic range). HDR is a process that is used to balance the light between the interior and exterior such that a viewer can see through the glass and appreciate the view just as someone would be able to do so in person.
Processing HDR photos can be a little tricky as colors can sometimes become over saturated or not match the original. We use a process that avoids both of those issues. We constantly get great feedback from our clients.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The early years were tough as most people never even heard of elevated/low altitude photography. We had to explain the process before being able to promote it.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Joe Welch Photography – what should we know?
I am proud of the fact that we meet a need for exceptional photography whether a home is 30,000,000 or 100,000. Each job gets whatever attention is needed to best display its selling points.
What sets us apart from others is:
1. Our attention to detail
2. Always learning new and better ways to enhance our craft
3. Going the extra mile to ensure that our clients are happy w/the end product
4. By not cramming our schedule to do as many jobs as possible in a day we are never rushed such that we can take our time while on the job to do whatever is necessary to ensure that our photos will attract as many viewers as possible
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Patience.
I am also extremely organized and methodical such that I very rarely overlook misplaced items that would negatively affect a photo. I sometimes wonder if I have a very mild case of OCD. I think if I do it has helped me immensely as a photographer as I can easily notice something out of place.
