Life & Work with Criselys Garcia of Miami / South Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Criselys Garcia.

Hi Criselys, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Criselys García. I’m an economist, international model, entrepreneur, and founder of Fundación INTEDSP, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children with complex medical conditions.

My greatest purpose began long before any of those titles. I was born with a congenital urological condition that required multiple surgeries and countless hospital visits throughout my childhood. Those experiences could have defined my life, but instead, they shaped my mission.

In 2017, I founded Fundación INTEDSP to help children facing similar challenges and to give families access to hope, support, and opportunities they might not otherwise have.

Today, I use every platform I have—whether through philanthropy, entrepreneurship, or public speaking—to advocate for children, inspire resilience, and show that our greatest challenges can become our greatest purpose.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. Like any meaningful journey, mine has come with challenges.

Growing up with a congenital urological condition meant undergoing multiple surgeries, spending a lot of time in hospitals, and learning resilience from a very young age. Later, building a nonprofit organization with limited resources wasn’t easy either. There were moments when funding was scarce, doors were closed, and balancing my professional career with my mission felt overwhelming.

But every challenge reinforced why I started. Instead of seeing obstacles as reasons to stop, I chose to see them as opportunities to grow, serve, and lead with empathy. Those experiences have shaped not only the work I do today but also the person I strive to be.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Today, I wear several hats. I’m an economist, entrepreneur, international model, and founder of Fundación INTEPS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with congenital urological conditions and other complex medical needs.

I specialize in turning personal experiences into initiatives that create real impact. Whether through philanthropy, advocacy, or public speaking, my work focuses on raising awareness, connecting families with resources, and inspiring others to transform adversity into purpose.

What I’m most proud of is building a foundation that was born from my own story and has become a source of hope for many families. Seeing children receive the support they need and knowing that my journey can make someone else’s a little easier is my greatest achievement.

What sets me apart is that I don’t separate my purpose from my profession. Every platform I have—whether in business, media, or philanthropy—is an opportunity to create meaningful change. I believe true success isn’t measured only by personal accomplishments, but by the lives we positively impact along the way.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice is to stop waiting until you feel completely ready. Growth happens by taking action, not by having everything figured out.

I also wish I had understood earlier that your story is your greatest strength. For a long time, I thought I had to overcome my challenges before sharing them. Instead, I learned that being authentic is what truly connects you with people and creates meaningful opportunities.

Stay consistent, be patient, and never compare your journey to someone else’s. Success rarely happens overnight. Build your character as intentionally as you build your career, and always remember that purpose will take you farther than recognition ever will.
