Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Romero.
Hi Ana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a college student living in Miami, and my journey into this industry actually started behind the bar — I was working as a bartender and barista while I was studying. Somewhere along the way, I realized I didn’t just want to serve drinks, I wanted to build something of my own.
My goal has always been really clear to me: I wanted to make people’s morning routines more fun. A coffee or a matcha can feel so basic, but I wanted to turn that everyday moment into something that actually shifts your whole day — something you look forward to, not just something you grab on the way out the door. That idea is really what became Sip Society.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, honestly. I come from a Cuban immigrant family who rebuilt their entire life here in the U.S., so I grew up watching that kind of sacrifice and work ethic firsthand. Trying to build my own version of that — creating a new life for myself, staying on top of my studies, and chasing this dream business all at the same time — has really tested my organization and discipline.
There’s no roadmap for doing all of it at once, so a lot of it has been figuring it out as I go, and learning to trust that the hard balancing act is part of the process.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When I created Sip Society, my goal was to make morning coffee and matcha both convenient and fun. To some, it might seem like just another drink you grab on your way out the door — but my clients have shown me it can genuinely change the rest of their day.
We keep a menu of simple, fun, dessert-inspired drinks so there’s something for everyone’s taste. We also do our best to keep everything affordable, because our goal has never been about chasing numbers — it’s about reaching people. We don’t want to compromise on quality to get there, so we hold our standards just as high either way.
What I’m most proud of is how intentional every detail is. Our coffee beans are sourced from Colada Joe, a Cuban-American business, and our matcha comes directly from Shizuoka, Japan. Nothing on our menu is an afterthought — every ingredient is chosen to make sure what we’re serving actually means something
What were you like growing up?
I was born and raised in Havana, Cuba, and growing up, I was always a really creative kid. I’m incredibly proud and grateful for the family I have and grew up with — they’re the ones who taught me that hard work really does pay off, even when you can’t see the results right away. That lesson has stuck with me through everything, especially building Sip Society.
