Hi Eric, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m Eric Nathan, President of Nathans Investigations, and my path into private investigations started with my service as a U.S. Army Veteran, where I developed a strong foundation in discipline, leadership, and analytical thinking. After transitioning out of the military, I pursued formal education in the field and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Private Investigation Services, continuing to build both the academic and practical skills needed for investigative work.
From there, I gained hands-on experience in a range of roles, including insurance fraud and workers’ compensation investigations for a national agency, and serving as lead private investigator for the Florida Bureau of Private Investigators. I also held leadership positions such as Field Operations Supervisor and Regional Asset Protection Supervisor, along with work as a Behavioral Health Analyst. Over time, I earned multiple certifications in areas like social media analysis, intelligence gathering, and interviewing techniques.
All of that experience led me to found Nathans Investigations, where I’ve been able to bring together investigative expertise, technology, and leadership to serve clients across Florida. Under my leadership, the firm has grown into a recognized, veteran-owned agency known for integrity, results, and professional excellence, with features in national media and multiple industry awards.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like any career in investigations, there were challenges building experience in a highly demanding field, earning trust early on, and navigating complex cases where the stakes were high and outcomes weren’t always immediate.
Balancing leadership roles, fieldwork, and continuous professional development also required long hours and persistence. But those challenges helped sharpen my skills, strengthen my approach to investigations, and ultimately shape the foundation of Nathans Investigations.
