Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Ballon.
Hi Amy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Real estate has been part of my story from the very beginning. I grew up in California, where my father was a real estate developer who built one of the area’s first multifamily residential communities in the 1950s. Watching him transform land into thriving neighborhoods sparked a passion that has stayed with me throughout my life.
That early foundation led me to a career spanning more than three decades in luxury real estate development, specializing in pre-development strategy, sales, marketing, and launching high-profile residential communities. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of the industry’s most respected developers and brokerage firms, helping bring iconic projects to market from the earliest planning stages through successful sellout.
Today, through Ballon Development Consulting, I advise developers and brokerages on market positioning, sales strategy, organizational infrastructure, and agent training. My passion is helping create world-class development programs while mentoring the next generation of new development professionals. Looking back, I realize real estate wasn’t simply a career choice—it was in my blood from the very beginning.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It certainly hasn’t been a smooth road, but many of the greatest opportunities in my career came from seeing potential where others didn’t.
I began my career in luxury new development in the early 1990s, selling Ocean One, The Related Group’s first oceanfront condominium in what was then known as unincorporated Dade County. At the time, the area was commonly referred to as “Motel Row”—far from the prestigious destination it is today. Convincing buyers to invest there required more than selling a residence; it meant helping them understand the long-term value of owning a piece of irreplaceable oceanfront real estate.
I have always believed that while buildings can be replaced, land on the ocean is finite. There is only so much beachfront, and once it’s developed, there will never be more. That philosophy became the foundation of my career. Years later, that same neighborhood became Sunny Isles Beach—one of the most recognized luxury residential markets in the world, often referred to as Billionaires’ Row.
Throughout my career, I’ve been drawn to pioneering opportunities in emerging and transitional markets. Whether helping developers envision what’s possible before others can see it or guiding buyers to invest with confidence, I’ve found that the greatest success often comes from having the vision to recognize tomorrow’s value long before it becomes obvious to everyone else.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
For more than three decades, I have specialized in luxury pre-development condominium sales, marketing, and consulting throughout Florida. My expertise begins long before a project ever reaches the market—working alongside developers, architects, designers, legal teams, and marketing professionals to shape projects from concept through sellout.
Throughout my career, I have generated billions of dollars in luxury real estate sales while leading some of South Florida’s most recognizable waterfront developments. I am known for creating comprehensive sales strategies, building and training high-performing on-site sales teams, developing pricing and absorption strategies, and helping developers maximize value from the earliest stages of development.
What I am most proud of is not simply the sales volume, but the lasting relationships I’ve built with developers, brokerage firms, and clients who continue to trust my guidance decades later. I take tremendous pride in mentoring agents, elevating industry standards, and sharing the knowledge I’ve gained through real-world experience.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just sell new development—I help create it. I understand every phase of the process, from vision and positioning to execution and sellout. My approach combines strategic thinking, market intelligence, operational expertise, and hands-on leadership with a genuine passion for developing people as much as developing projects. My goal is to help developers build extraordinary communities while creating exceptional opportunities for the professionals who represent them
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
One book that has had the greatest impact on both my personal and professional life is The Four Agreements by The Four Agreements. I strive to live by its simple principles—especially being impeccable with my word, not taking things personally, avoiding assumptions, and always doing my best. Those lessons have helped shape the way I lead, communicate, and build lasting relationships.
