Hidden Gems: Meet L.A. DeRiggi of Hudson Park Interior Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to L.A. DeRiggi.

Hi L.A., thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am the founder and principal of Hudson Park Interior Design. My path into design has been shaped by a blend of strategic thinking and creativity, beginning with a formal background in business before transitioning into architecture and interior design.

I earned a degree in business, where I developed a strong foundation in operations, problem-solving, and long-term strategic thinking. That perspective continues to influence my approach to design today. I view each project not only as a creative endeavor, but also as a structured process rooted in clarity, organization, and intention. After working across a variety of business environments, I chose to pursue my long-standing interest in the built environment and returned to school to complete a master’s degree in interior architecture.

Following graduate studies, I relocated to Florida, where I gained hands-on experience at two design firms. During this time, I deepened my understanding of high-end residential design, from concept development through execution, while refining a design philosophy centered on livable, highly tailored interiors that balance refinement with ease.

Building on that experience, I founded Hudson Park Interior Design as a studio that merges analytical thinking with creative direction. The firm is grounded in a highly intentional, client-focused process, where each project is shaped by lifestyle, context, and a commitment to timeless, functional design.

Today, I lead the studio’s creative vision while continuing to evolve its structure and capabilities, ensuring that every project reflects a thoughtful balance of strategy and artistry, along with a deeply personal approach to how people live in their homes.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall, yes—it has been a relatively smooth road, and in many ways that’s how I’ve known I’m in the right place. When something aligns, there’s a sense of clarity and momentum that tends to carry you through the challenges rather than derail you.

That said, like any business owner can attest, building and running a firm is not easy, and it’s certainly not for everyone. There are constant layers of decision-making, problem-solving, and responsibility that extend far beyond the design work itself. You’re balancing creativity with operations, client expectations, team management, and the realities of timelines, budgets, and execution.

In the luxury design world, trust is everything. Clients are making significant investments in their homes, and you have to earn the opportunity to guide those decisions. That takes time, consistency, and a relentless commitment to delivering an exceptional experience. The design itself is important, but so is the confidence clients place in you to lead them through a process that can be both exciting and complex.

I’ve always approached that complexity with a strategic mindset. My background in business has been invaluable in that regard—it allows me to step back, assess situations objectively, and make decisions that are not purely emotional or reactive, but intentional and focused on the long term.

The biggest ongoing challenge is really the scale of it all—learning how to grow a studio while maintaining a high level of design integrity and personal involvement in each project. As the firm evolves, the goal is always to ensure that growth never comes at the expense of quality, relationships, or the client experience.

So while it hasn’t been easy, it has felt aligned. And that distinction has made all the difference.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Hudson Park Interior Design is a Florida-based luxury residential interior design studio specializing in highly tailored, full-service homes that balance refinement with livability. We focus on high-end renovations, new construction collaborations, and furnishing and styling projects, with an emphasis on creating cohesive environments that feel intentional, calm, and deeply personal to each client.

At its core, the studio is defined by a dual lens: strategic structure and creative intuition. My background in business informs a highly organized, process-driven approach rooted in clear communication, thoughtful sequencing, and strong operational systems, while my training in interior architecture grounds the work in spatial integrity, proportion, and architectural thinking. That combination allows us to approach design not simply as aesthetics, but as a thoughtful process centered on how people live and experience their homes every day.

What differentiates Hudson Park Interior Design is our level of involvement and continuity across the entire project. We are not a finish selections studio—we are deeply embedded in the full arc of the home, from spatial planning and architectural collaboration through materiality, furnishings, and final styling. This ensures a consistency of vision that carries through every layer of the design while creating a seamless experience for our clients.

Just as important, we do not design around a signature look or the latest trend. We begin by understanding our clients—their routines, priorities, aspirations, and how they want to feel in their home. I believe the most successful projects are those that reflect the people who live there rather than the designer who created them. The result is a portfolio that is cohesive in quality and approach, yet diverse in expression, with each home serving as a direct response to its architecture and its owners.

What I am most proud of is the trust we build with our clients and the long-term relationships that follow. In the luxury design world, trust is everything. Clients are making significant investments in their homes, and earning the opportunity to guide those decisions requires consistency, transparency, and a relentless commitment to delivering an exceptional experience. Many of our projects come through referrals, which I believe speaks to the level of care, detail, and discretion we bring to every engagement.

While thoughtful design is always the goal, the experience is equally important. We want clients to feel supported, guided, and understood throughout what can often be a complex process. The greatest compliment is not an award or publication—it’s hearing a client say that their home feels authentically like them and has improved the way they live every day.

As the studio continues to grow, the focus remains on refinement over expansion, process over noise, and design that is both elevated and enduring. Our goal is simple: to create homes that feel effortless, personal, and quietly exceptional—spaces that support how people truly live, not just how they want their homes to look.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
One thing that often surprises people is how hands-on I still am in the work.

There’s a tendency to assume that once you own a design firm, your role becomes primarily managerial or removed from the day-to-day creative process. In reality, I remain deeply involved in every project—from early concept development and space planning to material selections and final design decisions. That level of involvement is intentional. It allows me to maintain a consistent point of view across the studio’s work while ensuring each project receives the same care and attention that it would have when the firm was first established.

What people may not see is that I’m equally involved in the operational side of the business. My background in business has always made me as interested in building strong systems, processes, and client experiences as I am in the design itself. I enjoy solving problems, refining workflows, and thinking strategically about how the studio can continue to evolve while maintaining the level of service and design integrity our clients expect.

At the same time, I think the biggest misconception about luxury design is that it’s simply about creating beautiful spaces. For me, it has always been about people. The most rewarding part of my career hasn’t been the recognition or publications—it’s been the relationships built along the way and seeing how thoughtful design can genuinely improve the way someone lives in their home.

So while I may be the founder of the firm, I’m still very much a designer at heart—deeply engaged in both the creative process and the client relationships that make this work so meaningful.
