Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricky Kelly.
Hi Ricky, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Automatic Driving School has successfully trained and helped thousands of students throughout South Florida. We specialize in teenage and adult driving packages, computer and road tests, and traffic school services.
Automatic Driving School was incorporated in 1986 by Ricky Kelly in North Miami, FL. Mr. Kelly got his start with Sears Driving School back in the early 1980’s and became a top performer with them receiving multiple awards during his tenure there. While there he advanced from in-car instructor to management and learned every facet of the business. He opened his school with one vehicle and throughout nearly 40 years in business, has had the opportunity to work with students from various walks of life and backgrounds. Automatic Driving School has expanded significantly and that is thanks to our wonderful customers and the South Florida community we call home.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I started Automatic Driving School in 1986, some of the biggest obstacles was building trust in the community, competing with larger more established schools, and managing the costs of operating a small business. I persevered by focusing on every student’s success, providing personalized instruction, and maintaining high standards of professionalism. As the industry evolved, we adapted to new regulations, testing requirements, and technology while staying committed to helping students become safe and confident drivers. During economic downturns like the recession of 2008 and the covid crisis of 2020, you have to find ways to maintain operations and stay viable which can be a struggle, but we have always found a way to stay planted in the community that has provided so much over the years.

Whether you’re a new driver or brushing up on your skills, we look to provide personalized high-quality driving instruction to students from all walks of life. We aim to make learning to drive safe, stress-free, and accessible for everyone. At Automatic Driving School, we specialize in teenage and adult driving packages, computer and road testing, and traffic school services in the Miami and Broward area.
Driving lessons start and end at the students residence with our concierge pick-up/drop-off service. Our cars are certified and insured. They are also dual control and modified with the brake pedal on both sides of the car for the students safety. You can choose from affordable packages or individual driving lessons.
