Today we’d like to introduce you to JEREMY BOYD.
Hi JEREMY, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Here’s a more natural version with a smooth conversational tone and no hyphen breaks:
—
I actually got started pretty early without realizing it. I was born in Fuchu, Japan, just outside of Tokyo, because my parents were teaching at an American school there. Growing up overseas gave me a different perspective from the beginning, being around different cultures and learning how to connect with people in different environments.
When my family moved back to the United States, we settled in Williamsburg, Virginia, and that is really where I developed my work ethic. I always had some kind of job, and even as a kid, I was finding ways to bring people together. I would organize games, create little clubs, and charge a few dollars to join. Looking back, that was probably my first exposure to sales and marketing, even if I did not realize it at the time.
I went on to Radford University, where I had the opportunity to become the founding president of a fraternity chapter. That experience was huge for me because it taught me how to build something from the ground up, recruit people, create a brand, and lead a team. It was basically like running a business before I even graduated.
After college, I got into sales and recruitment, and I was fortunate to move into leadership roles pretty quickly. The biggest turning point came in 2006 when I decided to move to South Florida. I did not have much at the time, but I knew I wanted to build something bigger for myself.
When I first got to Miami, I took on a mix of roles just to get my footing. I worked as a resident advisor at a language school, got into marketing for a mortgage company, and started working in digital marketing and search engine optimization sales. That combination really helped me understand both traditional and digital sides of the business.
In 2007, I joined Miami New Times, and that is where everything really came together. Over the years, I have grown into a senior account executive role, working with businesses across South Florida and beyond. What I do today is help companies figure out how to position themselves, grow their brand, and ultimately drive revenue through a mix of print, digital, and event based marketing.
I have been doing this for over 20 years now, and a big part of my role is really just being a connector. I work closely with my clients to understand their goals and then build strategies that actually move the needle for them.
I would say my reputation in the market has really been built on consistency, relationships, and results. When you have been in one market for a long time, people get to know how you work, and for me, it has always been about being reliable, being honest, and delivering for my clients.
At the end of the day, I have taken something I naturally enjoyed, connecting with people and helping them grow, and turned it into a career.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Here’s a natural, interview-ready way to talk about challenges you’ve faced, in a tone that feels real and not scripted:
—
I think like anyone who has been in sales and marketing for a long time, I have had to navigate a lot of change and uncertainty along the way.
One of the biggest challenges early on was simply starting over in a new market. When I moved to Miami, I did not have an established network or client base, so everything had to be built from scratch. That meant a lot of cold outreach, a lot of hearing no, and a lot of persistence just to get in the door and prove myself.
Another major challenge has been adapting to how quickly the industry evolves. I started in a much more traditional advertising environment, where print was a primary focus. Over time, everything shifted toward digital, social, and data driven strategies. Staying relevant meant constantly learning, asking questions, and being willing to evolve instead of getting comfortable with what had worked in the past.
I have also had to manage the ups and downs that come with sales. There are great months and tougher months, and you have to stay consistent through both. That taught me discipline and how to focus on long term relationships instead of short term wins.
Building trust with clients has been another important piece. Especially early on, you are asking businesses to invest in you and your ideas, and that does not happen overnight. It takes time, transparency, and delivering results consistently. There were definitely moments where I had to earn that trust the hard way.
And like most people in client facing roles, I have had to learn how to balance multiple priorities at once. Managing different clients, deadlines, and expectations can be challenging, so developing strong communication and organization skills became essential.
Looking back, all of those challenges really helped shape how I approach my work today. They made me more adaptable, more resilient, and more focused on building genuine relationships that last.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
