Rising Stars: Meet Nina Tomasik of Miami / South Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Tomasik.

Hi Nina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Nina’s passion for baking began in her grandmas’ kitchen, baking with recipes passed down through the generations. Those warm memories of flour-dusted countertops and the aroma of fresh bread became the foundation of a lifelong love.

Working in her parents’ restaurant led to her decision to enter Culinary College in Slovakia, where she honed her craft and discovered her talent for cake decoration.

After moving to Florida, she continued her cake decorating passion for friends and family while being a stay-home mom to her two boys. In 2013, she started “Nina’s Fresh Bakery” by selling cakes and sweets from her home kitchen.

Her custom cakes and other desserts quickly became popular, and increasing demand led to opening a storefront location in the heart of Jupiter. Today, Nina and her team love creating cakes for all your special occasions.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There some longstanding competition in South Florida for custom cakes – mostly from a giant grocery chain – but we are still thriving after 13 years!

We also were able to stay open during the entire Pandemic shutdown – we pivoted to curbside pickup and cookie kits for family to decorate at home.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We specialize in custom cakes – and love making 3D sculpted cakes. We make our creations both beautiful and delicious. We make everything in-house and custom for each client’s event.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Our team does fun events for each holiday – axe throwing, pottery class… we even went skydiving!
