Today we’d like to introduce you to Divershines Joy Trechi / Patricia Ibarra.
Hi Divershines, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Divershines was founded in 2023 with a clear mission: to help create more opportunities for neurodivergent individuals and expand the conversation around adulthood.
For years, much of the discussion surrounding the Autism Spectrum has focused on childhood. But as adolescence approaches and school comes to an end, many families begin asking new questions about independence, employment, entrepreneurship, and what a meaningful future might look like.
That reality is what inspired us to create Divershines.
As co-founders, we are both deeply connected to the neurodivergent community through our own families. Those personal experiences gave us a close look at the challenges many individuals face, but also at the incredible potential that can flourish when people have access to opportunities, guidance, and a community that believes in them.
We wanted to create a space where neurodivergent individuals and their families could find practical tools, education, meaningful connections, and support to explore different paths toward greater independence and financial autonomy.
Our professional backgrounds have also played an important role in shaping this vision. Patricia Ibarra brings more than 15 years of experience in brand development, marketing, and sales, while Joylin Trechi has built a career of more than 17 years in demand planning and supply chain management for multinational companies. Together, those experiences have allowed us to create an initiative that combines business strategy with a strong commitment to inclusion and long-term impact.
Today, Divershines is a growing community that brings together families, entrepreneurs, professionals, and organizations around a shared vision: building a future where inclusion also means talking about autonomy, financial independence, and meaningful life opportunities.
We believe preparing for the future starts long before it arrives. By opening conversations around entrepreneurship, employment, and opportunity, we hope to help more neurodivergent individuals and their families build the future they envision.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any mission driven initiative, Divershines has faced challenges from day one. However, our biggest challenge has not been building an organization, it has been helping move a conversation forward.
For many years, much of the discussion around the Autism Spectrum has focused on childhood. But as adolescence and adulthood approach, many families are left with new questions about independence, financial stability, employment, and building a meaningful life path, often with very few resources or spaces where those conversations can take place.
One of our greatest challenges has been helping bring those topics to the forefront and showing that preparing for the future is also an essential part of inclusion.
We’ve also learned that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Every individual and every family has a unique story, which is why our work begins with listening, understanding, and creating initiatives that respond to real needs while respecting each person’s interests, strengths, and goals.
Another important challenge has been expanding the way people think about opportunities for the neurodivergent community. We believe inclusion should never be limited to a single model. Employment, entrepreneurship, education, and many other pathways can all be part of a meaningful life journey when the right support and opportunities are available.
Every challenge has strengthened our conviction that this work matters. It has allowed us to connect with families, professionals, and organizations that share the same vision: building a society where neurodiversity is also associated with opportunity, independence, and meaningful participation.
We continue learning every day, but one idea guides every decision we make at Divershines:
The future doesn’t happen by chance, it is built. And that process begins long before adulthood.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Divershines, we are working to expand the conversation around neurodiversity by highlighting that inclusion also means talking about the future, autonomy, and financial independence.
We specialize in supporting neurodivergent individuals and their families as they explore entrepreneurship as a meaningful path to develop skills, transform interests into projects, and create opportunities that align with each person’s strengths and aspirations.
More than offering a service, we are helping promote a new way of thinking about the transition to adulthood. We believe preparing for the future means identifying strengths, developing skills, and creating opportunities long before those decisions become urgent.
Perhaps that’s what defines us today and what many people recognize us for: bringing important conversations to the forefront and connecting families, entrepreneurs, businesses, and organizations around a shared vision of the potential within the neurodivergent community.
What makes us most proud is not what we’ve built as an organization, but the conversations we’ve helped start. When a family shifts from asking, “What will happen in the future?” to asking, “What can we start building today?” we know something meaningful is changing.
We believe what sets Divershines apart is our ability to connect purpose with action. We don’t just talk about inclusion, we create spaces, partnerships, and opportunities that empower more people to explore pathways toward greater autonomy and meaningful participation in society.
Our vision is simple: a world where neurodiversity is also associated with innovation, entrepreneurship, and opportunity. Every initiative we launch is another step toward making that vision a reality.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson Divershines has taught us is that potential needs a community to become opportunity.
Throughout this journey, we’ve met neurodivergent individuals with a wide range of interests, skills, and ways of thinking. Time and time again, we’ve realized that the difference between developing that potential or leaving it unexplored often isn’t the individual, it’s the environment that surrounds and supports them.
We’ve learned that when a family believes, a community shows up, an organization creates opportunities, and someone is willing to open a door, meaningful paths can begin to take shape.
This lesson has also strengthened our perspective on entrepreneurship. More than building a business, entrepreneurship can be a tool for developing independence, building confidence, and creating opportunities that align with each person’s interests and strengths.
At Divershines, we strongly believe that no one builds a meaningful life on their own. Behind every success story, there is a support system, a conversation that sparked a new idea, a partnership that opened a door, or a community that chose to focus on possibilities.
Perhaps the most valuable lesson we’ve learned is this: when talent is supported with structure, guidance, and opportunities, the possibilities for growth expand in remarkable ways.
That belief drives every initiative we create and strengthens our commitment to building a community where more neurodivergent individuals and their families can find the tools, connections, and opportunities to create their own path toward greater independence.
