Life & Work with Eve Joss of Miami / South Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eve Joss.

Hi Eve, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After earning my master’s degree in psychology, I realized that my true passion had always been interior design. For as long as I can remember, I have loved helping friends and family design their homes and offices, offering advice on layouts, finishes, and accessories to create spaces that feel both beautiful and functional.

Driven by this passion, I decided to pursue design professionally and enrolled in a design academy in South Africa, where I received formal training and refined my skills.

When my family and I relocated to Florida, USA, I finally turned my long-held dream into reality by founding Rooms by Eve. Today, our firm specializes in contemporary interiors with an international flair, creating thoughtfully designed spaces that reflect each client’s lifestyle while blending global influences with timeless elegance.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Transitioning from psychology to design, relocating internationally, and building a business from scratch were my biggest challenges. Each experience pushed me to grow professionally and personally, and ultimately helped me create a design firm that combines creativity with a deep understanding of how people live and interact within their spaces.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Rooms by Eve, we specialize in contemporary interiors with an international flair, creating residential and commercial spaces that are both beautiful and functional.

My design approach blends clean lines, rich textures, and timeless elements to create spaces that feel sophisticated, warm, and uniquely personal. Drawing on my background in psychology, I focus not only on how a space looks, but also on how it feels and supports the people who use it.

What sets me apart is my ability to combine global design influences with a deeply personalized approach, ensuring every project reflects my clients’ lifestyles, personalities, and aspirations.

I’m most proud of creating spaces that tell a story and leave a lasting impact on the people who experience them.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Many people are surprised to learn that I transitioned from a career in psychology to interior design. While the fields may seem very different, I believe they are deeply connected. Understanding people—their lifestyles, emotions, and needs—helps me create spaces that are both meaningful and functional.
