Meet Josmauri Tejeda of Boba Beach Club

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josmauri Tejeda.

Hi Josmauri, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ll be honest… Boba Beach Club wasn’t exactly Plan A. Or Plan B. But looking back, it seems like I was always headed here.

I’m a Jersey girl who grew up glued to Food Network, dreaming of palm trees and convinced I’d be the next Rachael Ray. I spent about 7 years serving tables and pulling espresso shots before “I had to start taking life seriously”.

I always joke that if my mom had just gotten me an Easy Bake Oven as a kid, I probably would’ve been a chef or something a long time ago. But she didnt… so I became a Registered Nurse instead. I worked at the bedside for almost 10 years, the last 7 of those as a travel nurse mostly in California.

I eventually moved back to Florida to be closer to my mom, who ended up passing away. Nursing was just not what I wanted to do anymore, so I attempted an Airbnb management business. After years of trying to make that work, running through my savings, and living off of credit cards, my father was diagnosed with dementia and the new goal became to bring him down here to Florida to be with me. So I had to start making some money!

I’ve always been obsessed with pop-ups and events. There’s something about the energy of them, the way they create this little moment of joy, that I’ve always been drawn to. I’ve always dreamed of being part of that world in some way… creating an experience and a vibe… making people feel something.

I actually almost started a lemonade stand. But then I found Bella on Instagram. She was running a boba pop-up, catering events, and doing her thing! And I thought, “I could totally do that”. I just loved her product and just thought it’d be so cool to bring some better-for-you boba to South Florida, with my own tropical twist. She’s now my mentor.

Boba Beach Club was kind of the answer to all of the little things I’ve always loved and wanted to do. I had already taught myself to bake in my 20s, ran a little cupcake business in nursing school, and spent years in catering and hospitality. I took all of that and combined it with my love for the beach, the cafe aesthetic, and my health conscious side to offer a product that is fun, refreshing, and delicious… while still being plant-based, made with real ingredients, and free of food dyes and artificial sweeteners

At the end of the day, what I love most is simple: I get to show up and make people happy. Every event, every pop-up, every drink or cookie I hand someone that makes them smile… that’s the whole point. I’ve always loved serving people. Turns out, I just needed to find a more colorful way to keep doing exactly that.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Once I decided on it, it was kind of smooth. I bought Bella’s course, finished it in a weekend, and just took action! I think I was finally just ready to do something that truly felt like me. There’s always up and downs… things that can go wrong especially with working outside in Florida and doing markets every weekend. A lot of work goes into set-up and breakdown, a lot of sweat, cuts, and scrapes and heavy lifting, but it’s honestly a struggle that I love.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Boba Beach Club?
Boba Beach Club is a boba catering and pop-up experience serving Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties. We specialize in boba iced lattes and high-protein cookies… and we bring the whole vibe with us wherever we go.

What makes us different starts with what’s in the cup. Most boba is loaded with sugar, artificial colors, and ingredients you can’t pronounce. Ours is 100% plant-based, made with real ingredients, no food dyes, and no artificial sweeteners… and it actually tastes incredible. I think a lot of people appreciate that.

Our drinks feature tropical and Latin-inspired flavors like the Pink Limofresca… a hibiscus tea latte with lime juice, lime zest, and coconut milk. And the Dirty Abuela… an iced espresso coconut milk latte with brown sugar and cinnamon that has people coming back every single week. All drinks are served with our chewy pink boba, which is sweetened with organic brown sugar and beet juice. It honestly speaks for itself.

Then there are the Pumped Up Cookies… bakery-style, high-protein, 100% plant-based, and absolutely no food dyes. Our best seller is the Ube Monster… an ube cookie stuffed with Oreos and Golden Oreos that has developed its own little cult following. We also have the Whirled Peace, a strawberry matcha sugar cookie, and the Island Oatmeal, a coconut pineapple oatmeal cookie with a guava center. The menu names, the aesthetic, the branding… I designed most of it myself and honestly I’m really proud of it.

We pop up at markets every weekend when we’re not booked for events, and we cater everything from corporate events and employee appreciation days to graduations, weddings, and mitzvahs. If there’s a party, we want to be there.

As for what’s next… I’ve always dreamed of a semi-permanent pop-up location by the beach. A little day club café situation with an extended menu, good music, and good vibes. Maybe one day!

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is being able to build something that is truly, unapologetically me.

For a long time I felt like I was living in spaces that didn’t quite fit and Boba Beach Club is the first thing in my life that feels like it was made for me, because it literally was. The flavors, the branding, the aesthetic, the values, the vibe… all of it reflects who I am. I get to be creative, I get to feed people, I get to show up to events and bring the energy, and I get to do it all without compromising on the things I actually believe in.

That authenticity is what I think people feel when they find us. And that means everything to me.
