Hidden Gems: Meet Matthew Boggan of Gulf Coast Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Boggan.

Hi Matthew, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my career at a young age by building websites and helping local businesses with marketing and branding. What began as a creative passion quickly evolved into an entrepreneurial journey centered around leadership, communications, and community impact. Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work in the Florida Capitol, where I gained firsthand experience in government and public policy. That experience later led me to serve as Director of Government Relations for a nonprofit organization, where I worked closely with community leaders, elected officials, and advocacy efforts across the state.

At 20 years old, I took a major leap and opened my first restaurant in Naples, Florida — Stix Sushi & Seafood. That experience taught me invaluable lessons about entrepreneurship, leadership, and resilience at a young age, and it further fueled my passion for building businesses and creating experiences that bring people together.

Today, I lead Gulf Coast Agency, which has grown into one of Southwest Florida’s premier political consulting and marketing agencies. Through our work, we’ve had the opportunity to partner with businesses, nonprofits, campaigns, and public figures to help strengthen brands, communicate effectively, and make meaningful impacts within their communities.

I earned my degree in Business Management through the FGCU Honors College before completing my MBA at Florida Gulf Coast University. Throughout that time, I remained heavily involved in nonprofit and advocacy work, which helped shape my perspective on leadership and reinforced the importance of using business as a platform to serve others.

Some of the most meaningful moments in my journey have come through community involvement and service. Being named Best Buddies Champion of the Year in 2021 and later recognized in Gulfshore Business’ 40 Under 40 were both incredibly humbling honors and reminders of the importance of relationships, hard work, and giving back to the community that has supported me throughout my career.

Looking back, I’m grateful for every opportunity and challenge that helped shape my path. I still approach each new venture with the same mindset I had when I first started — continue learning, continue building, and continue finding ways to create a positive impact in the community around me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road, and I think a lot of my growth came from learning how to navigate challenges at a young age. One of the biggest transitions in my life was moving from New York to Florida right as COVID hit. My parents still live in New York, so I was truly on my own building a new life, career, and support system in an entirely different state during one of the most uncertain periods in recent history.

There were moments where it felt overwhelming. Starting over in a new place without family nearby while the world was shutting down forced me to become independent very quickly. At the same time, I was pursuing entrepreneurship, working in government relations, and later taking the risk of opening my first restaurant at just 20 years old. There’s no real handbook for balancing that level of responsibility at a young age, especially during a time when so many businesses were struggling to survive.

Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced setbacks, long hours, financial pressure, and moments of doubt along the way. But I’ve always believed challenges either shape you or stop you, and I chose to let them shape me. Those experiences taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of building strong relationships and community around you.

Looking back now, I’m grateful for those difficult moments because they pushed me to grow both personally and professionally. They gave me the confidence to take risks, trust myself, and continue building toward the vision I had for my future, even when the path forward wasn’t always clear.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Gulf Coast Agency is a full-service marketing, public relations, and political consulting firm based in Southwest Florida. Over the years, we’ve built a strong reputation for helping businesses, public figures, nonprofits, and political campaigns grow their presence, strengthen their messaging, and connect authentically with the communities they serve.

What sets us apart is that we take a very relationship-driven and hands-on approach to everything we do. We’re not a large corporate agency where clients become just another account number. We work closely with every client to truly understand their goals, their story, and the audience they’re trying to reach. Whether it’s digital marketing, branding, social media strategy, event promotion, media relations, or political consulting, our focus is always on creating meaningful and impactful results.

One area where Gulf Coast Agency has become especially well known is political consulting and campaign strategy throughout Southwest Florida. We’ve had the opportunity to work with elected officials, candidates, and community leaders at multiple levels of government, helping them communicate effectively and build strong connections with voters and constituents. At the same time, we continue to work extensively with local businesses, restaurants, nonprofits, and entrepreneurs who are looking to elevate their brands and expand their reach.

What I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve built within the community. A large portion of our growth has come through referrals and long-term relationships, which I believe speaks volumes about the way we approach our work and the results we deliver. We genuinely care about the people and organizations we work with, and we treat every project as an opportunity to create something meaningful.

At its core, Gulf Coast Agency is about helping people tell their story in a way that feels authentic, strategic, and impactful. We’ve been fortunate to grow into one of Southwest Florida’s premier marketing and political consulting agencies, and we’re excited to continue expanding while staying true to the personalized approach that helped build the company from the beginning.

What are your plans for the future?
At 23 years old, I feel like I’m just getting started, and that’s one of the things I’m most excited about. I’ve been fortunate to accomplish a lot at a young age, but I still have a very long-term vision for both my businesses and my future.

One of my biggest goals is continuing to grow Gulf Coast Agency beyond Southwest Florida and expand our presence across the entire state. We’ve built an incredible foundation and reputation locally, especially within marketing, public relations, and political consulting, and I’m excited about the opportunity to bring that same personalized and relationship-driven approach to more communities throughout Florida.

I’m also looking forward to continuing the growth of Zen Fusion Restaurant Group and expanding the restaurant concepts we’ve created. Hospitality has always been something I’m passionate about because it brings people together and creates experiences and memories that last. I would love to see our concepts continue to grow into new markets across the state while maintaining the quality and culture that make them special.

More than anything, I’m excited for what’s ahead personally and professionally. I want to continue building businesses that make a positive impact, create opportunities for others, and contribute to the communities we serve. I still approach every new opportunity with the mindset of learning, growing, and finding new ways to push myself beyond what I thought was possible.
