Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivier Lesser.
Hi Olivier, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born into this industry- my grandfather started the company in Antwerp (Belgium) after WW2, then my father, then me. Diamonds have always been my passion- it’s what I know. In 2013 I launched Leiser & Co Ltd in London, and since then have launched successful offices worldwide- Europe, the Far East and now America. I am where I am today because I have adapted with the times. The industry has changed enormously over the years and our business has adapted accordingly because I’m not afraid to take risks.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not- like all businesses we are subject to market conditions. Covid was particularly challenging, as was the economy in the years following. It was a great lesson in adaptability and gave me the drive to continue expanding when others might have given up. Miami Diamond Traders was the next natural step to crack the US market. It’s the jewel in my crown.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Miami Diamond Traders are buyers, sellers and creators. We buy diamonds of all shapes above 2cts at the best market rates. We stock an enormous inventory of stones and have a worldwide network of suppliers, retailers and private investors. We create beautiful bespoke pieces in our workshop and can create any design you have in mind. What sets us apart is our pricing and our customer service. I wouldn’t feel the same selling something created in a factory.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Miami is alive- there is a pulse that you can feel. You wake up to sunshine. People enjoy life. Every day I meet new and interesting people from all over the world, it’s a melting pot and I love that. So far it’s hard to find a negative but ask me again in ten years!!
