Community Highlights: Meet Aurelie Huyghues-Despointes of Just Smile Dentistry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aurelie Huyghues-Despointes.

Hi Aurelie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Originally from the beautiful island of Martinique, I always had a passion for dentistry and creating confident smiles. That passion led him to attend the prestigious Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, where I earned my dental degree and completed an additional year of residency training. Afterward, I returned to Florida and spent over 7 years practicing dentistry and caring for patients before achieving my dream of owning my own practice. Today, I am the proud owner of Just Smile Dentistry, where I have been serving the community for the past 1.5 years with compassionate, patient-centered care.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building confidence as a young dentist and gaining patients’ trust early in my career also took time and dedication. Later on, becoming a practice owner brought a whole new set of responsibilities and pressures beyond dentistry itself. But every challenge helped shape me into the dentist and business owner I am today, and it made the journey even more rewarding.

At Just Smile Dentistry, our goal is to make patients feel comfortable, cared for, and confident in their smiles. We provide comprehensive dental care, from routine cleanings and cosmetic dentistry to restorative treatments and Invisalign all in a welcoming and modern environment. We are especially known for taking the time to truly listen to our patients and creating personalized treatment plans that fit their needs and goals.

What sets us apart is the experience we create. We understand that many people feel anxious about going to the dentist, so we focus heavily on patient comfort, honesty, and building long-term relationships based on trust. We combine high-quality dentistry with a friendly, compassionate approach that helps patients feel like family from the moment they walk through the door.

Brand wise, I am most proud of the reputation we are building in the community. In just 1.5 years of ownership, Just Smile Dentistry has grown through word of mouth, patient relationships, and genuine care for people. I want readers to know that our office is a place where patients of all ages can feel welcomed, respected, and confident that they are receiving excellent care. Our mission is simple: to help people smile more and feel better about themselves.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice for anyone just starting out is to stay patient and trust the process. Success does not happen overnight, and every stage of the journey teaches you something valuable. Early in my career, I focused heavily on improving my clinical skills, but I eventually realized that building relationships, communication, and trust with patients are just as important as the dentistry itself.

I also wish I knew earlier that it is okay not to have everything figured out right away. There will always be moments of doubt, challenges, and setbacks, especially when taking on bigger responsibilities like owning a practice. The key is to stay consistent, keep learning, and never lose sight of why you started in the first place.

Most importantly, treat people well. Skills and technology matter, but patients remember how you made them feel. If you genuinely care about people and continue striving to improve every day, success will follow naturally.
