Today we’d like to introduce you to Erika Caiaffa.
Hi Erika, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started Miami Centerpieces with no formal floral training.. just creativity, passion, and the willingness to figure things out as I went. What began as decorating small events for friends eventually turned into designing a 500 guest wedding, and from there, the business grew completely through word of mouth and relationships.
Over the years, I’ve built the company into a recognized wedding floral brand in South Florida by staying hands-on, constantly evolving creatively, and truly caring about the experience I create for my clients. Today, I’m focused on elevating the brand even further in the wedding industry market while still keeping the heart, personality, and emotion that made people connect with my work from the beginning.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Building a creative business from the ground up comes with a lot of pressure. One of my biggest struggles was balancing being a creative with becoming a business owner… learning pricing, leadership, boundaries, systems, and how to grow sustainably while still delivering high-level work.
The wedding industry is also emotionally and physically demanding. There are long nights, high expectations, and a lot happening behind the scenes that people don’t see. But every challenge pushed me to evolve, become more confident in my work, and build a business that reflects both creativity and resilience.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I own Miami Centerpieces, a wedding floral and event design company based in South Florida. We specialize in creating elevated, emotional, and visually impactful weddings through florals, candlelight, styling, and overall ambiance. Our designs range from modern and romantic to bold, colorful, and garden-inspired, but everything we create is intentional and deeply personalized to each couple.
I think what people know me for most is my ability to work with color and create spaces without losing elegance. I’m very hands-on creatively, and I truly care about the experience clients have throughout the process, not just the final look.
What I’m most proud of is that I built this business organically through relationships, referrals, and consistency. I started with very little, completely self-taught, and over the years built a recognizable brand in the wedding industry by staying authentic to my style and work ethic.
What sets us apart is that we don’t just place flowers on tables . we focus on storytelling, atmosphere, and transforming a room into an experience people will remember.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice would be to stop waiting until everything feels perfect before starting. So much of growth comes from simply doing, learning through experience, and trusting yourself along the way. In the beginning, I thought I needed to know everything before taking bigger opportunities, but honestly, a lot of my growth came from saying yes, figuring it out, and putting in the work.
I also wish I understood earlier that being talented creatively is only one part of building a successful business. Systems, boundaries, leadership, communication, and consistency matter just as much. And most importantly, don’t spend too much time comparing yourself to others. Focus on developing your own style and voice .. that authenticity is what people truly connect with.
