Today we’d like to introduce you to Polina & Konstantin Golden Live Duo.
Hi Polina & Konstantin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello everyone — we are Polina and Konstantin, a married couple, artists, and the creators behind Golden Live Duo.
What began as two musicians performing together eventually became a refined live music brand built through years of experience, reinvention, and shared vision across different countries and cultures.
Golden Live Duo officially began in Kharkiv, Ukraine in 2017 — though the foundation of our story started much earlier, back in 2013.
We met while pursuing our Master’s degrees at the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture. During those years, we were already performing in refined restaurant settings, sometimes together and sometimes separately, working in the format of vocals and saxophone. Those early years became a period of deep exploration — shaping our musical taste, gaining real-world experience, and searching for a sound that would feel both authentic to us and valuable to the audience.
In 2017, everything aligned.
We had just gotten married — and almost immediately after, during one of our performances, a leading music manager approached us with a simple but defining question:
“What should we call you on the lineup?”
Up until that moment, we had always been presented simply as “vocals & sax.”
That question, arriving at that exact moment in our lives, changed everything.
It made us realize that what we had was not just a format — it was something much deeper. Golden Live Duo became our first creation as a family — a project born from our union, something we built together with care, intention, and a long-term vision.
From the very beginning, we were intentional about positioning. The name Golden Live Duo reflects a certain standard — not something loud or excessive, but a promise of elegance, quality, and consistency in every detail: sound, presence, and overall experience.
We defined our musical identity early on: well-known songs reinterpreted in jazz, smooth jazz, bossa nova, and lounge styles — music that enhances the atmosphere rather than interrupts it. Our role has always been to set the tone, especially at weddings, private events, and upscale venues, where the first impression shapes everything that follows.
After building our project in Ukraine and performing across the country — including Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro, and other major cultural centers — our lives changed dramatically with the beginning of the war.
Very quickly, we realized that staying was no longer simply a difficult option — it had become a question of safety and survival.
Like many Ukrainians, we were forced to leave our home and rebuild our lives elsewhere. But beyond protecting ourselves and our future, it was also deeply important for us to preserve what we had spent years creating together.
Golden Live Duo was not just work for us — it was our life’s project, our identity, and something we had built with love, sacrifice, and years of dedication.
That is why we made the decision to relocate to Europe — not only to continue living, but to carry our music, our vision, and our artistic journey forward instead of losing everything we had created.
Our first destination in Europe was Romania. We began adapting to a new market — and, to our own surprise, we did it quite quickly.
Within the first month, we were already performing, including events in Bucharest and other cities. Shortly after, we were invited to perform at a private event in Rome, Italy — a moment that confirmed the universality of our concept and its ability to resonate across different cultures.
During this time, we received a direct invitation from The WB Abu Dhabi, Curio Collection by Hilton — a Warner Bros. themed hotel in Abu Dhabi — offering us a contract as resident performers.
This became one of the most defining chapters of our career.
We spent over a year and a half there, growing not only as performers, but as creators of a complete live music experience.
As some of the first musicians in that space, we were responsible for building everything from the ground up. We were involved in shaping the entire musical environment — from stage design and technical setup to sound engineering, speaker placement, and the overall structure of the performance flow.
Our role went far beyond performing. We helped establish the very format of live music in that venue — creating the standards and conditions that later became the foundation for other musicians.
This experience became a turning point for us — both artistically and technically. It gave us a deep understanding of how high-level live music should function, not only in performance, but as a complete, well-designed system.
At a certain point, we felt that this chapter had reached its natural completion.
We had grown, built something strong, and were ready for a new step.
Canada became that next chapter.
At the time, Canada was supporting Ukrainians, and it was also a long-standing dream of Konstantin to move there. So we made the decision to begin again — in a completely new environment.
We arrived in Canada with almost nothing — no management, no industry connections, no guarantees. A friend who had moved earlier gave us temporary support while we found our footing.
Even with international experience and a strong professional foundation, we were starting from zero — as people who had lost everything except each other and our music.
But we carried one certainty with us: if you’ve built something once, you can build it again.
And step by step, we did.
Within our first month in Toronto, we had our first performance. From there, opportunities began to open — gradually and through persistence. Canada is a complex, multicultural market with its own structure and expectations, and it takes time to truly understand it.
At the same time, it is an incredibly inspiring place, and we are deeply grateful to the people who trust us and invite us to be part of their events.
Over the past two years, we have performed hundreds of times and built our presence through consistency, quality, and a clear artistic identity.
This also means something more — a large number of happy couples and clients, for whom we became part of their most important moments.
Today, we primarily position ourselves within weddings, corporate events, and gala dinners — spaces where atmosphere, elegance, and attention to detail are essential. In this field, we have already achieved meaningful results.
We have been featured in WedLuxe, with published photos and a dedicated description of our work. We have also received numerous positive reviews on Google, which for us is one of the most genuine reflections of the quality we deliver.
We pay close attention not only to the music itself, but to the visual presence, overall aesthetic, and every detail of the experience. For our clients — whether it’s a couple, their families, or event planners — these moments are once in a lifetime.
And our goal is simple: when they look back at their memories years later, everything still feels right — the sound, the atmosphere, the image — all aligned, all elevated.
We believe that this level of care, adaptability, and deep understanding of our clients is what defines our work today.
Golden Live Duo is not just a duo. It is our life’s work — a family project, a refined brand, and a complete live music experience shaped by years of dedication across countries, cultures, and stages.
And like many artists, we are now moving toward the next chapter — creating our own original music. We already feel it within us, but just like everything we’ve built, we approach it with intention, patience, and respect for the process.
We are artists who have rebuilt our lives through music — and that is why every note we play carries depth, resilience, and real emotion.
What makes this journey especially meaningful to us is that every chapter shaped not only our career, but who we became as people.
We experienced success, uncertainty, displacement, reinvention, and the challenge of starting over in completely new countries and cultures. And through all of it, music remained the one constant — the language that allowed us to connect, rebuild, and continue moving forward.
Perhaps that is why we value atmosphere and emotional connection so deeply today. For us, live music has never been just entertainment. It is a feeling people remember years later — something invisible, but deeply lasting.
Golden Live Duo was born from partnership, trust, and resilience. And no matter where life takes us next, those values will always remain at the center of everything we create.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road.
One of the biggest challenges we faced was rebuilding our lives and careers multiple times in completely new countries and environments.
The war in Ukraine changed everything for us. We were forced to leave our home, our professional network, our stability, and the life we had spent years building. Starting over emotionally is already difficult — but starting over professionally in a foreign country, in a highly competitive industry, while trying to preserve your identity as artists, is an entirely different challenge.
At the same time, we felt a deep responsibility not to lose what we had created. Golden Live Duo was never just a job for us — it was our shared vision, our family project, and something we built through years of dedication and sacrifice.
Every new country required us to adapt from the beginning:
new audiences, new expectations, new cultures, new business structures, and often even new ways of communicating and presenting ourselves professionally.
Another challenge was learning how to balance the artistic side of what we do with the business side. As independent artists, we are not only performers — we are also responsible for branding, communication, networking, marketing, technical organization, client relationships, and maintaining a consistent level of quality in every environment we enter.
There were also moments of uncertainty, exhaustion, and fear of the unknown. But those experiences taught us resilience, adaptability, and patience.
Looking back now, we understand that every difficult chapter shaped us into stronger artists and stronger people. And perhaps that is why we value every opportunity, every client, and every performance so deeply today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are Golden Live Duo — a luxury live music duo specializing in refined vocals and saxophone performances for weddings, corporate events, gala dinners, restaurants, and upscale private celebrations.
Our work is centered around creating atmosphere.
Rather than treating live music as something loud or intrusive, we focus on elegance, emotional connection, and enhancing the overall experience of an event. Our musical style combines well-known songs reimagined through jazz, smooth jazz, bossa nova, and lounge influences — creating a sound that feels timeless, sophisticated, and emotionally engaging.
Over the years, we have performed internationally across Ukraine, Europe, the Middle East, and Canada. One of the most defining chapters of our career was our residency at The WB Abu Dhabi, Curio Collection by Hilton, where we helped shape and develop the live music experience within the venue from the ground up.
Today, we are primarily known for weddings and luxury events in Toronto and the GTA, where we focus not only on music itself, but on the complete experience — professionalism, visual presentation, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and attention to detail.
What sets us apart is that we are not simply musicians performing songs. We approach every event as an atmosphere to be designed carefully and intentionally.
As a married couple working together professionally, we also bring a natural chemistry and emotional connection to the stage that audiences genuinely feel. Over time, Golden Live Duo became more than a performance format — it became a refined artistic brand built through years of dedication, reinvention, and international experience.
What we are most proud of is not only the career we built, but the fact that we were able to rebuild it multiple times in completely different countries and cultures while preserving our artistic identity and the quality of what we create.
For us, success is not only measured by performances or recognition, but by the trust people place in us during some of the most important moments of their lives.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Absolutely — throughout life there are always people who believe in you, sometimes even more than you believe in yourself.
First and foremost, we are deeply grateful to our parents. They gave us the opportunity to pursue higher musical education and supported our creative path from the very beginning. Without that foundation, much of what we built later would not have been possible.
Throughout our journey, there were also many people who supported us in different ways — mentors, colleagues, venue owners, clients, and friends we met along the way. At the same time, the artistic path is never simple. Much of our journey was built through persistence, discipline, and continuously pushing forward while trying to establish ourselves as serious, respected musicians in highly competitive environments.
After the war began, we experienced an especially deep level of human support. We met incredible people in Romania, the UAE, and later in Canada — people who believed in us, encouraged us, opened doors for us, and reminded us not to give up during uncertain moments of our lives.
We are also incredibly grateful to our clients. What they trust us with goes far beyond music. They invite us into some of the most emotional and meaningful moments of their lives — weddings, celebrations, milestones, and family memories that will stay with them forever. For us, that level of trust is one of the greatest honors possible.
And finally, we believe a huge part of our journey comes from the fact that we always had each other. Building a life, a career, and a creative project together through multiple countries and major life changes is not easy. But over time, we learned how important partnership, trust, patience, and shared vision truly are.
Looking back now, we understand that no career is built alone. Behind every artist, there are people whose belief, kindness, support, and trust quietly become part of the story too.
