Meet Sara Davis of Khasa Kids

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Davis.

Hi Sara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story is rooted in creativity, resilience, family, and a deep belief in the power of confidence.

I’ve spent much of my career in marketing, communications, hospitality, customer experience, and entrepreneurship, which taught me how important it is for people to feel seen, supported, and understood. Over time, I became especially drawn to work that combines storytelling with impact and creating messages that not just sell something, but that make people feel something.

A major part of that belief was shaped by my childhood best friend, Chris, who lived with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Chris faced a terminal illness, but his spirit, gratitude, and ability to find joy in the present left a lasting impact on me. He taught me to focus on what we can enjoy, not only what we cannot control. That lesson stayed with me as I thought about the kind of encouragement every child deserves to carry with them into adulthood.

Khasa Kids was born from that place. I wanted to create a brand that helps children carry encouragement with them in a simple, everyday way. Our affirmation-based shirts are designed for toddlers through youth XL and feature positive messages that remind kids they are brave, capable, loved, kind, unique, and worthy.

The name Khasa is very personal to us. It is pronounced like “casa,” which means “house/home” in Spanish, and it also represents a blend of my name, Sara, and my husband’s name, Khalil. To us, Khasa means home, creating a place where children feel safe, confident, loved, and encouraged to become who they are.

Living in Barbados also shaped the vision for Khasa Kids. Much like South Florida, Barbados is a place where you meet children and families from all over the world, each with their own culture, story, and background. That experience reminded me that while every child’s life may look different, the need to feel confident, loved, capable, and seen is universal. Khasa Kids was created with that in mind so children from all backgrounds can connect with messages that build them up from the inside out.

Our message, “wear your confidence,” reflects the heart of the brand. We want children to build inner strength one affirmation at a time.

I started Khasa Kids as a passion project with my family, inspired by the children in my own life and my belief that small messages can make a lasting difference. As a small business owner, I’ve had to learn and build almost everything from the ground up: from the website and product development to marketing, fulfillment, social media, and customer experience.

Now, as I prepare to welcome my own baby girl, that mission feels even more personal. I want her, and every child who wears Khasa Kids, to grow up surrounded by reminders that they are loved, capable, brave, kind, and worthy exactly as they are.

Today, Khasa Kids is still growing, but the mission is clear: to become more than an apparel brand. I want it to be a movement that helps parents, grandparents, educators, therapists, and caregivers pour confidence and independence into the next generation in a practical, joyful, and meaningful way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a completely smooth road, but I’ve learned that meaningful things rarely are.

One of the biggest challenges has been building a brand from the ground up while learning every layer of the business along the way. Khasa Kids may look simple from the outside, affirmation-based shirts for children, but behind the scenes there are so many moving parts: product development, design, website building, marketing, social media, customer experience, fulfillment, analytics, and finding the right ways to reach families in a very crowded online space.

I’ve had to become very intentional and resourceful. As a growing brand, there are always more ideas and opportunities than time, so I’ve had to learn how to prioritize, test, adjust, and keep moving even when everything is not perfect. I’ve also had to learn how to evaluate opportunities carefully. There are many exciting directions I could take from marketing channels and collaborations to events, advertising, and brand visibility opportunities, but not every opportunity is the right fit at the right time. I’ve had to look at each decision through the lens of the brand’s values, audience, timing, and stage of growth.

Another challenge has been balancing the creative heart of the brand with the systems needed to support it. I care deeply about the message behind Khasa Kids, but I’ve also had to learn the operational side of turning an idea into a real business.

The challenges have stretched me, but they have also strengthened the brand. They’ve made me more focused, more creative, and more committed to the mission of helping children wear and believe messages that build confidence from the inside out.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work lives at the intersection of entrepreneurship, creativity, marketing, and purpose-driven children’s apparel.

Khasa Kids is an affirmation-based children’s apparel brand created to help kids build confidence, kindness, resilience, and positive self-talk in a simple, everyday way.

We specialize in meaningful shirts for toddlers through youth XL that feature empowering messages children can wear and absorb throughout the day. Our designs are created for kids, but they are also meant to support the parents, grandparents, teachers, therapists, and caregivers who are helping shape how children see themselves.

What we are becoming known for is clothing with intention. Khasa Kids is not just about cute shirts or catchy phrases. Every message is connected to a larger purpose: reminding children that they are brave, loved, capable, unique, and enough. Whether a child is shy, bold, neurodivergent, sensitive, creative, athletic, or still discovering who they are, our goal is to reinforce confidence from the inside out.

I am most proud of the heart behind the brand. Khasa Kids began as a family-centered passion project, but the mission has grown into something much bigger than apparel. One of the greatest joys has been hearing from customers about the deeper impact these shirts have had on their children, families and communities. Parents and caregivers have shared that the messages spark deeper conversations, offer reassurance in moments of doubt, and give children language for confidence, courage, kindness, and self-worth, especially when they may be struggling to express those feelings on their own. Some have even told me that when they read through our free affirmation cards with their children, the words become meaningful reminders for them as adults, too. That is what makes this work so special to me — the message does not stop with the shirt. It can ripple through a family, a classroom, a community, or any circle of support helping a child feel seen, encouraged, and reminded that they matter.

That belief is part of what makes Khasa Kids special. Confidence is not known to be built in one big moment. It is built through repeated reminders, safe relationships, encouragement, and of course the messages children hear and see every day. Our shirts are designed to be one of those small but meaningful reminders, something children can wear that helps reinforce who they are and who they are becoming.

What sets us apart is our focus on emotional wellness, confidence-building, and practical encouragement. Our shirts are designed to be more than something kids and youth wear. They are daily reminders that help kids carry confidence with them wherever they go.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Miami and the surrounding South Florida area is the diversity, energy, and sense of possibility. There are so many cultures, languages, foods, traditions, and stories living side by side. You can meet people from all over the world, and that naturally creates opportunities to learn, connect, create, and build something meaningful.

I also love that South Florida has always had a unique rhythm. It is vibrant, creative, family-oriented, entrepreneurial, and full of people who are constantly starting something, dreaming bigger, or finding a way forward. There is opportunity at every corner if you are willing to look for it and work for it. For a brand like Khasa Kids, that matters because our message is for children and families from all backgrounds. Miami reflects that beautifully.

What I like least is that, like many places, Miami has changed a lot in recent years. I know many people who grew up in Miami or built their lives in South Florida and have felt pushed out or disconnected because of how quickly things have shifted, especially after COVID. The growth has brought opportunity, but it has also brought crowding, higher costs, and a feeling that some families are losing the version of Miami they once knew and hoped their children would experience.

Even with those changes, I still have a lot of love for Miami and South Florida. It is a place with soul, culture, ambition, and resilience. My hope is that as the area continues to grow, it keeps making room for the families, communities, and small businesses that helped make it so special in the first place.
