Today we’d like to introduce you to Yanely Peña.
Hi Yanely, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I graduated from FIU in the summer of 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and went straight into a startup where I got a ton of hands-on experience in social media marketing. I was doing lots of work and learning the industry, but then (un)fortunately I got let go.
At first it was scary, but it quickly realized that I didn’t want to go back to a 9-5 job. I had spent a year and a half building someone else’s vision, and I knew I had everything I needed to build my own. It was honestly the push I needed.
I launched SoftSol in June of 2025 as a boutique social media agency focused on small to mid-size local businesses. I recently brought on my first part-time employee, so watching the team grow has been one of the most rewarding parts of this whole journey. We’re only a year in, but I’m really proud of what we’re building!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly? No. And I think anyone who says entrepreneurship has been a smooth road probably isn’t being fully honest.
Being a team of one was probably the hardest part for me personally. There was no one to bounce ideas off of, no one to talk things through with, no one to say “hey, does this make sense?” You’re making every decision alone and hoping it’s the right one.
The thing I’ve held onto through all of it is the vision. I’ve always known what I wanted SoftSol to look like. The type of clients, the quality of work, the culture of the team. Getting there has been a journey, and honestly still is. But every challenge has just made the foundation stronger.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about SoftSol Media?
SoftSol Media is a boutique social media agency based in Miami. We specialize in content strategy, content creation, and social media management for hospitality, beauty, wellness, and lifestyle brands.
One of the biggest things that inspired me to start SoftSol was realizing how much people crave human connection, especially now when so much of our world revolves around screens, AI, and constant content consumption. At the end of the day, there are still real people behind every business.
What makes SoftSol different is that we’re very hands-on and collaborative. We care a lot about understanding the heart of a business before we ever start posting for them and all of our content is backed by strategy.
I think what I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve built with our clients and how personal the relationships feel. Because we’re still a smaller boutique agency, every client gets a lot of intention and attention to detail behind the scenes. Right now we’re in a really exciting season of growth, and I’m learning so much about leadership.
How do you define success?
To me, success is knowing that the work I’m doing is genuinely helping businesses grow. Knowing that I’m contributing to someone’s vision and helping support something they’ve worked hard to build means a lot to me. Success also looks like waking up excited to do the work that I do and being able to provide for myself financially, knowing that I built that stability for myself.
