Today we’d like to introduce you to Rafael Aguirre.
Hi Rafael, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I got my start working inside a range of marketing agencies, from smaller shops to larger operations, and across all of them I kept seeing the same problem repeat itself. Too often, profit came before performance. Client relationships were poorly managed, important accounts were handed off to lower tier specialists for the sake of cheaper labor, and internally there was rarely enough structure to support great work. Every new opportunity felt like stepping onto a sinking ship. It was stressful, reactive, and disorganized, and I knew that kind of environment could only lead to mediocre results for clients. That frustration is what led me to start Apartment 803. I wanted to build the kind of agency I wished existed when I was on the inside of those other organizations. One where strategy is taken seriously, communication is clear, and client success is not treated like a line item. I take winning personally for my clients, and that mindset has shaped everything about how we operate. Apartment 803 is not just a name. It is where the business was literally born. Our first office was in apartment 803, and that scrappy beginning taught us to stay lean, move fast, and think creatively. What started in that small space has since grown into an agency that has worked with clients across healthcare, education, legal, apparel, and other industries, helping brands scale through sharper thinking and stronger execution. Where we are today is the result of staying committed to a higher standard, one built on clarity, performance, and genuine accountability to the people who trust us with their growth.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Apartment 803 launched in December of 2019, and within three months the world was dealing with the COVID pandemic. For many businesses, it was a period of sudden disruption. Budgets were being cut, business models were being reworked in real time, and there was a great deal of uncertainty about what came next. Launching a new agency in that environment was not exactly ideal.
At the same time, that season became a defining chapter for us. Rather than viewing the disruption only as a threat, we saw it as an opportunity to help businesses transition more effectively into digital models. During that time, we offered a 75% reduction in our pricing to support small essential businesses impacted by the crisis. It was important to us to lead with service when many businesses were under real pressure.
What makes me most proud is that we did not lose a single client during the pandemic. While it was a period that forced many companies to slow down or shut down, Apartment 803 grew. That experience reinforced something I still believe strongly today: when you stay close to your clients, adapt quickly, and focus on delivering real value, even the most difficult seasons can become a foundation for long term growth.
Today, that same adaptability is shaping how we approach AI. There is a lot of fear and uncertainty around how it will impact jobs and entire industries, but we see it as leverage. When used with skill and intention, AI can increase speed, sharpen execution, and help businesses scale more efficiently. We have embraced it as a tool to improve how we think, build, and operate, and that has created another meaningful advantage for the clients we serve.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Apartment 803?
Apartment 803 is a performance driven digital media agency built for brands that want marketing to translate into real business growth. We specialize in paid media strategy and execution, helping businesses generate stronger leads, build more efficient acquisition systems, and scale with more clarity.
What sets us apart is that we do not just manage ads. We look at the entire system behind performance. That includes strategy, creative, conversion paths, tracking infrastructure, landing page and funnel strategy, and the ongoing optimization required to turn paid media into a real growth engine. In a space where many agencies focus on surface level metrics or generic reporting, we pride ourselves on being direct, honest, and deeply focused on what is actually moving the business forward.
I think what also makes Apartment 803 different is the level of care we bring to our client relationships. Our clients come to us when they want sharper thinking, stronger execution, and a team that takes results seriously. We have worked across healthcare, education, legal, apparel, and other industries, but the common thread is always the same: helping businesses attract better opportunities, improve efficiency, and build a stronger foundation for scale.
What I am most proud of brand wise is that Apartment 803 has always been built with intention. Even the name reflects that story. It came from our first office, apartment 803, where the agency was born. That beginning shaped the way we still operate today: lean, innovative, and relentlessly focused on doing the work well. If there is one thing I would want readers to know, it is that we are not interested in creating more noise. We are here to build smarter systems, produce measurable results, and help our clients grow with greater confidence.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was extremely curious and very much a nerd at heart. I loved academics, had a real hunger for learning, and was fascinated by how things worked. I was also unusually drawn to building things and creating little experiments, which in hindsight makes a lot of sense given the kind of work I do now. I have always been interested in testing ideas, understanding systems, and figuring out how to make things better.
At the same time, I was deeply involved in sports and played everything from golf, tennis, basketball, and soccer to football and martial arts. That gave me a balance I still value today. On one side, I was analytical and obsessive about learning. On the other, I was competitive, disciplined, and performance driven. Looking back, that mix of curiosity and competitiveness explains a lot about who I became. I have always been drawn to understanding systems, improving them, and then seeing how far they can go under pressure.
