Hi Kelly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been naturally creative and drawn to designing experiences that bring people together. What started as helping family and friends with events gradually turned into a business through word of mouth, consistency, and a genuine passion for creating meaningful moments.
Over the years, I’ve grown Kelly Roberts Weddings & Events into a brand focused on elevated weddings, events, and creative experiences that feel intentional and personal. Along the way, I’ve balanced entrepreneurship, community involvement, and full-time work while continuing to refine my craft and grow as both a planner and producer.
Today, I’m grateful to do work that allows me to combine creativity, organization, and connection while helping clients bring their visions to life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, especially in the creative industry, there were seasons of building while balancing other responsibilities, learning through experience, and figuring things out without a blueprint. There were moments that required long hours, financial sacrifice, problem-solving under pressure, and learning how to navigate both the creative and business sides of entrepreneurship.
One of the biggest challenges has been learning to balance being the visionary, the planner, and the person behind the scenes making everything happen. Event production can look glamorous on the surface, but there’s a lot of hard work, pressure, and responsibility that people don’t always see.
At the same time, those challenges helped shape me. They taught me resilience, adaptability, and how to lead with both creativity and professionalism. Every obstacle became part of the process that helped me grow both personally and professionally.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an event planner and creative producer specializing in weddings, social events, and curated experiences that feel both elevated and personal. My work focuses heavily on event design, production, coordination, and creating intentional details that leave a lasting impression.
I’m known for being able to take an idea or vision and bring it to life in a way that feels thoughtful, creative, and visually impactful while still making sure the experience flows smoothly behind the scenes. I love creating focal moments within events — the details and design elements that make people stop, feel something, and instantly know, “Kelly Roberts did this.” I want my work to have a signature feel that people remember long after the event is over.
What I’m most proud of is building my business through consistency, relationships, and passion for what I do. A lot of my growth has come through word of mouth and repeat clients, which means a lot to me because it reflects the trust people place in my work.
I think what sets me apart is that I balance creativity with execution. I’m not just focused on how an event looks — I care deeply about how it feels, how it functions, and how the client experiences the process from beginning to end.
As the visionary behind an event, I also understand what’s needed to execute it properly. I know the value of collaboration and bringing in the right people with the right skill sets to help bring a vision to life seamlessly. I’m confident in my creativity, but I’m also secure enough to know that great events are built through teamwork, strong execution, and trusting talented professionals to do what they do best.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
One thing I love about being from Jersey is the diversity, creativity, and hustle mentality of the people. There’s so much talent and entrepreneurial spirit here, and I’ve had the opportunity to connect with some incredible individuals and businesses throughout my journey.
One challenge for creatives and small business owners is that, outside of larger markets, you sometimes feel like you have to work twice as hard for visibility and opportunities. But I also think that challenge builds resilience, innovation, and a stronger appreciation for the journey.
