STEPHANIE, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve actually been in the medical field most of my life, but deep down I always knew I wanted to become a business owner. In 2020, I opened a women’s boutique selling clothes, shoes, and purses, but unfortunately COVID hit and the business didn’t survive.
A few years later, when I became pregnant with my fourth child, I became extremely sick and had to leave my 9–5 job. After being home for about a month, I realized I needed something for myself — something I was passionate about. I’ve always been a girls’ girl and very into beauty and self-care, so I decided to enroll in esthetics school. The moment I started, I completely fell in love with it.
Now, about 2 and a half years later, I own my own studio, have an amazing team of contractors, and a steady flow of loyal clients. It’s been a journey full of challenges, growth, and learning experiences, but I’m really proud of how far I’ve come and excited for what’s next.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, far from smooth. Being a business owner comes with a lot of ups and downs.
I’ve dealt with slow weeks financially, client complaints, self-doubt, and having to teach myself beyond the basics I learned in school. I’ve also experienced people trying to take advantage of partnerships and the ‘mean girl’ side of the beauty industry.
But every challenge has helped me grow, learn, and build thicker skin as both a business owner and a person.
As you know, we’re big fans of Stephs A1 Beauty Bar LLC . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a licensed esthetician and certified acne specialist offering customized facial treatments and corrective skincare. Over the past couple of years, my business has grown into more of a beauty and wellness space where we also offer services like brows, lashes, body waxing, body contouring, lymphatic drainage massage, IV therapy, B12 shots, and more through other amazing women I’ve partnered with.
What sets me apart is that I truly treat every client as an individual, not just another appointment on my schedule. Every treatment is customized to their skin concerns, goals, and comfort level. I also focus heavily on communication and building real relationships with my clients, whether it’s checking in on their progress, educating them, or simply making them feel comfortable and pampered from beginning to end.
I think another thing that makes my brand special is that I’m always myself. I’m very genuine, relatable, and honest, and I believe that authenticity is a big reason why my clients trust me and continue supporting my business.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that consistency is everything. Even on the days when I feel discouraged, tired, or unmotivated, I’ve learned that I still have to keep going and continue showing up. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and a lot of growth comes from staying consistent even during the hard moments.
