Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Russo.
Hi Joe, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Pizza Time has been in business since 1978, started by Umberto Cerbone and his family, started as a small pizzeria restaurant it quickly expanded to the whole first floor of the building. Pizza Time has been winning awards year after year……. in 2006 My Family (Russo ) bought the restaurant from Bobby Cerbone, and we have been running it ever since, we kept all original recipes and we have been doing the exactly the same way since 1978.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Struggles have been in the last few years and since covid also , everything in South Florida is expensive, and the economy has not been great, people are afraid to spend money on eating out, and a lot of competion in the area in the last few years. So but we still do a good business, not like before covid, but it’s ok.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Me (Joe) and Angelo Incorvaia now own the business , we took it over from my family one year ago., But like i said i’ve been running it since 2006 and Angelo started with us in 2012, so now we both own it togheter.
What set’s us apart from others is that Pizza Time has been in the same location for almost 50 years, and something we are proud of. Also what sets us apart from others is that we make the our famous Grandma’s Pizza ( it’s a semi-thick crust , seasoned, topped with fresh mozzarella and whole milk mozzarella , topped with a fresh plum tomato sauce and fresh basil, extra virgin olive oil ) which started in New York, but we were one of the first to introduce it to South Florida and improve it also.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Well customer service is always first, being consistent in the product you put out. Always using the best quality ingredients .and no cutting corners.
