Inspiring Conversations with Renee & Laura Montalto of The Confetti Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee & Laura Montalto.

Hi Renee & Laura, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We’re twin sisters, born and raised in Miami, and now based in New York City, where we launched The Confetti Collective in 2022.

Celebrating has always been a big part of our lives. We grew up in a family that believed in making everyday moments feel special, whether that meant a thoughtfully set table, a handwritten note, or simply bringing people together.

Professionally, our careers naturally complemented one another. Laura spent years in buying and planning at companies like Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s, while Renee built her career in e-commerce and digital strategy at The Estée Lauder Companies, leading online businesses for brands across nearly 10 years.

We started The Confetti Collective because we saw an opportunity to make shopping for celebrations feel more curated, elevated and enjoyable. We wanted to create a one-stop destination where customers could discover beautifully-designed party décor, hosting essentials and thoughtful gifts from a carefully selected mix of small, women-owned and founded brands. We’re especially proud that more than 75% of the brands we carry are women-owned or founded, allowing us to support other female entrepreneurs while introducing our customers to their products they may not discover elsewhere.

What began as an online shop has evolved into something even more exciting. In addition to our curated shop, we expanded into event planning and styling, helping bring everything from intimate dinners to larger celebrations to life with an attention to detail and personal touch we so love incorporating.

At the heart of it all, our mission is to help people celebrate life’s moments, big and small, with more joy, intention and ease.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like most businesses, it definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road. Building The Confetti Collective has required us to wear many hats, from buying and merchandising to marketing, fulfillment, customer service and everything in between.

One of the biggest challenges has been building awareness as a small business. We’re constantly testing new ways to reach customers while staying true to our brand and being thoughtful about where we invest our time and resources.

Seasonality can also be a challenge. Celebrations happen year-round, but demand naturally ebbs and flows depending on the holiday or occasion, so we’ve had to become very strategic about planning inventory, inventory flow and marketing.

That said, every challenge has taught us something valuable. As twins, we have a built-in partner who understands each other’s strengths and helps keep us grounded. Seeing customers trust us to help celebrate meaningful moments makes all of the hard work incredibly rewarding.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Confetti Collective?
The Confetti Collective is a curated destination for elevated party décor, hosting essentials and thoughtful gifts designed to help make every celebration feel special. We carry products for all of life’s moments, from birthdays and baby showers to holidays and game days.

What sets us apart is our point of view. We carefully source products that are both beautiful and well-made, with more than 75% of the brands we carry being women-owned or founded. We want customers to discover items they likely won’t find at a traditional big box retailer and to feel like they’re shopping from a thoughtfully-edited collection rather than an endless catalog of products.

We’re also incredibly focused on the customer experience. Every order is packed with the same care and attention we would give a gift for a friend. Each order includes handwritten notes, thoughtful surprise touches, same-day shipping and real-time customer support- all designed to make the experience feel as special as the order itself.

In addition to our online shop, we’ve expanded into event planning and styling. No matter the occasion or the size of the celebration, we love bringing each event to life with thoughtful details that make guests say, “That’s so them.”

What we’re most proud of is the community we’re building—supporting other small businesses, helping customers celebrate meaningful milestones and creating a brand that feels genuinely cared for from start to finish.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Some of our favorite memories revolve around the holidays in our childhood Miami home. At Halloween, we’d help our dad decorate the front yard with homemade ghosts swinging from the trees or putting cobwebs on the wrought iron door. To this day, we still have vivid memories of every Christmas morning sneaking downstairs together in the middle of the night to peek at our stockings. And Easter was another favorite, with egg hunts scattered throughout the inside and backyard.

Sharing a birthday as twins also made celebrations feel especially meaningful. From an early age, we learned the joy of celebrating together with family and friends.

Looking back, those traditions sparked the love of entertaining and celebration that eventually inspired us to create The Confetti Collective.
