Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Williams.
Hi Alyssa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I originally moved to Miami to pursue a psychology degree at Florida International University- and I did 🙂 During college, I worked just about every job you can imagine while trying to figure out what felt meaningful to me. Somewhere in the middle of all of that, I started a small jewelry business that unexpectedly took off. At first, I loved the aesthetics of it all and the ability to create something that could brighten someone’s day, even in a small way.
A few years into running the business, I decided to organize my first real photoshoot for it. I hired my friend Peter to photograph it, gathered some friends to model, and spent the day creating together. I still remember the feeling of that shoot so clearly. There was something almost tangible in the air- the energy of people coming together to make something beautiful. I never really forgot that feeling.
After graduating, I started working in Behavioral Analysis while continuing the jewelry business on the side. I loved helping people, and I loved creating, but trying to balance both eventually made me realize something important about myself- I didn’t actually love selling things. What I loved was connection. I loved listening to people, understanding what they were trying to express, and helping bring that vision to life in a way that felt beautiful and honest. Photography became the clearest outlet for that.
Now, a lot of what I do revolves around collaboration and storytelling. Whether it’s through photography, video, creative direction, or helping coordinate a larger vision, I genuinely love the process of creating with people. There’s a certain beauty in those moments that I still deeply appreciate every single time.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think my path has always been the smoothest, but I do think it’s been meaningful. One thing I’ve learned is that every career comes with challenges and it’s really about choosing the ones that feel worth navigating.
For me, a lot of the challenge has come from balancing two very different parts of myself. I’ve invested years into psychology and understanding people, while also building a career rooted in visual storytelling and creative direction. There were moments where I felt pressure to choose one clear path, but over time I realized that both worlds influence the way I work and connect with people.
I’m someone who values stability, but I’m also deeply drawn to growth, exploration, and creating new things. Learning how to trust myself through that push and pull has probably been one of the biggest obstacles and also one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I mainly work in photography, creative direction, and video, mostly with brands, small businesses, and fashion or concept-driven shoots. I think if you looked at my work, you’d probably describe it as clean, intentional, and maybe minimalistic. I’m really drawn to imagery that feels elevated or honest.
I think what sets me apart most is the way I work with people. I care a lot about understanding what someone is actually trying to create and translating that into something real and cohesive visually. Whether I’m shooting, directing, or helping shape a bigger concept, I want the process to feel collaborative and thoughtful.
Some of my favorite projects have honestly come from creating with friends or people I genuinely connect with. I think there’s something really special about that kind of trust creatively. I think you can feel it in the final result.
I’ve also been lucky enough to have my work featured in different magazines and publications, which I’m really grateful for. I try not to get too caught up in titles or recognition, but it does mean a lot to know people have connected with something I created.
