Conversations with Xiomara Ezell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Xiomara Ezell.

Hi Xiomara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been drawn to storytelling, whether through acting, music, or creating experiences that make people feel something. I started performing young, which gave me an early love for being on camera and bringing characters to life, but as I’ve grown, that passion has expanded farrr beyond acting alone!

Over time, I found myself stepping into creative spaces as a filmmaker, musician, and producer as well, writing, directing, composing, planning events, and helping bring ideas to life from concept to execution. Oh! And most recently, I created and directed my own short film, Spotlight, a project that allowed me to combine sooo many parts of who I am: storytelling, music, performance, leadership, and creative vision.

My journey hasn’t been perfectly linear, and tbh, that’s shaped me in the best way. A lot of where I am today comes from persistence, adaptability, and a willingness to create opportunities instead of waiting for them. Whether I’m acting in front of the camera, producing behind the scenes, or collaborating with a team, I’ve always genuinely loveddd building meaningful creative work and continuing to grow through every experience!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitelyyy hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but I think those challenges have shaped me into the creative and person I am today. Breaking into creative industries often means wearing multiple hats, creating your own opportunities, and learning as you go, and I’ve experienced a lot of that firsthand!

There have been so many moments of uncertainty, financial challenges, and times where the path ahead didn’t feel clearly laid out, but those experiences really taught me resilience, adaptability, and how to keep moving even when things feel unclear. Instead of letting obstacles stop me, I’ve learned how to be resourceful, build my own opportunities, and trust my ability to grow into whatever role is needed!

A lot of my biggest growth has come from navigating the parts that weren’t easy!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What I do is rooted in storytelling, but my work spans a few different creative spaces. Professionally, I work as an actor, while also developing projects in filmmaking, music, and production. I’m especially drawn to emotionally immersive work. stories that feel intimate, cinematic, and real!

What I’m most proud of is my ability to turn ideas into reality. I know I keep repeating this but I can’t reiterate how creating my own short film, Spotlight, was a huge milestone because it challenged me not just creatively, but as a leader and problem solver. Taking a concept from imagination to an actual production with a team, cast, music, and full visual identity was one of the most incredibly rewarding things I have done this year!

I’ve also had the chance to work across very different environments, from acting roles to live event production and creative development, which has given me a broader understanding of storytelling as both an art and an experience.

What sets me apart is probably that balance between artistry and execution. I’m someone who loves dreaming big creatively, but I also genuinely enjoy figuring out how to make those ideas happen in real life. I think that mix of imagination, adaptability, and initiative gives me a unique perspective in the spaces I work in!

That’s a big part of why I love teaching guitar too! I genuinely get so much joy from helping people grow, build confidence, and have those little “wait, I actually did that?!” moments. I’ve always loved making creativity feel exciting and approachable, whether that’s through teaching, collaborating, or anything in my creative field.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Hmmm, something that might surprise people is just how much I genuinely love helping other people bring their ideas to life too. While people may know me for my own creative work, I’m naturally a very bubbly person who gets genuinely excited about other people’s projects just as much as my own. If someone comes to me with an idea they’re passionate about, I instantly want to brainstorm, problem-solve, hype them up, and help figure out how to make it real.

I think creativity is such a beautiful thing to share, and some of my favorite moments have come from collaborating, supporting others behind the scenes, or helping shape something bigger than just myself. I lovee creating, but I also really love being a person who helps other people create too.
