Culicchia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My best friend has been a Wedding Photographer for years, and told me to get a camera so I could start second shooting with her. I never expected to like ti as much as I did. My first shoot was actually a wedding! I feel right at home as a creative doing photography and absolutely fell in love with it. The connection I get to capture between couples, as well as families means so much both the client and me their photographer. I find myself smiling while editing as I see their happy faces in the pictures.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d say it’s been smooth sailing. Obviously the beginning is overwhelming learning camera settings. There were free shoots I did with friends to practice where I would get home and not love the results, but I pushed through to learn. I immersed myself in education and learned everything I could as fast as possible. I watched education videos on one screen while I edited on another. I listen to podcasts while I edit, I do everything I can to push myself to learn more. I believe the struggle is part of the process and I try to value every part of it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in proposals, which then turns into shooting their weddings later. I think my personality sets me apart. My clients rave about how much fun they had and how comfortable they feel during my shoots. This shows in their genuine smiles and gorgeous pictures. Many people feel awkward in front of the camera. I use fun prompts, while engaging in natural conversation to but my clients at ease. Sometimes that means sharing my silliness and awkwardness with them! I am unapologetically myself and strive for fun natural shoots that lead to gorgeous pictures. My style is true to life. I want clients to look back at their pictures are remember how their day felt.
