Today we’d like to introduce you to Miv Evans.
Hi Miv, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I relocated in 2005 from the UK to Los Angeles to follow my dreams as a writer. During that time I’ve worked on staff at a newspaper as a film critic and published a novel. In 2023, I produced and directed a screenplay, titled Little Miss Sociopath, that I had written. The film received 100% rave reviews from the critics and is streaming on Tubi, Amazon and YouTube.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My life as a film critic was tough but swift, as was the publication of my novel. But screenwriting was another issue altogether! Nobody wants to produce an unproduced writer, so I ended up financing my film myself.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am in the process of marketing my film and currently trying to unravel the mystery of AI in that space. What I’m most proud of and what sets me apart from other filmmakers are the reviews Little Miss Sociopath. received. It’s difficult to get critics to review an indie film and most get none at all. It’s setting me apart and slowly openeing doors that were previously firmly closed.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The film industry seems to be consolidating, with major streamers being taken over by even more major studios. I think AI is going to have a bigger and bigger impact on the actual production of films. Budgets will plummet!
