Exploring Life & Business with Toni of The Mystic Wears Prada

Today we’d like to introduce you to Toni.

Hi Toni, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born & raised in Bloomfield, NJ. My parents were both teachers so I suppose I come by that part of my work naturally! I moved to Fl. In my senior year of college after one too many snow storms the prior year. I spent my first winter on the beach and never looked back!

I was always enthralled with the fashion industry and graduated with an associates degree in Fashion Merchandising from Widner University in Delaware and a BS in Buiness Administration from Lynn University in Boca Raton.

I’ve worked in retail since college. What began as part-time work (primarily inspired by a discount on clothing) evolved into a long term leadership career. I loved the pace, the energy, and the sheer variety of skills I was able to dabble in, from visuals, training, people development, sales and strategy, and operations. And while I loved growing & developing a business, creating growth & opportunities for my team was always what lit me up the most! I worked my way up the management career path with brands like Brooks Brothers & The Limited, eventually pursuing my MBA in International Business while running a store.

From there, a friend recruited me to Stuart Weitzman shoes and that became a big shift in my career as I made the pivot to multi store leadership and a regional role overseeing the Eastern half of the U.S. (and did I mention the shoes??) doing what I loved while indulging my passion for fashion was a dream.

5 years later, a recruiter that I had been helping, suppling her with leads from my network, (people always seemed to come to me for advice and support when they were looking for a job) called me for a unique opportunity. The next thing I knew I was flying to NY for a meeting with the team at Dior. As a former fashion student, this felt like hallowed ground.

And if that wasn’t exciting enough, I started working on the day that they announced Ralph Simmons as the new creative Director. Rumors have been swirling since John Galliano’s exit, so when WWD, broke the news while I was filling out my paperwork, the entire office went wild! It was an exhilarating start to this new adventure.
Dior was both a high & low point for me, I built relationships that I value to this day, developed an incredible team, and had world class experiences with the brand. It’s also where I first encountered burnout.

There were so many incredible perks and experiences attached to it, that it felt too good to be true, and of course there’s always a trade-off. As the business grew, so did the demands on everyone’s time and energy.
I started losing the balance in my life, and in wanting to excel, found that I had less and less time for personal focus.

After burning the candle on both ends for a while, life intervened in the form of three herniated discs. This was my turning point. Basically, when you’re immobilized, you have no choice but to start looking within and analyzing what is and isn’t working in your life. While I loved being enveloped in the glamour and the fashion aspects of the business, I had to admit that almost 5 years in I was no longer happy. And I could see my peers struggling with work life balance as well. Frustrations behind the scenes ran high.

A trip to Venice changed everything. My college roommate that was running a start up in Dubai, invited me to come meet her on a Retreat once I had healed. It was called “creative rehab” geared towards individuals who were so focused on success, they had lost their child like sense of creativity and play. I signed up immediately. This experience pulled further at the threads I had started to unravel during my injury. It was here that I gave voice to the unthinkable… The thought that had been circling my mind for months, but that I was afraid to say out loud “I need to quit my job”

It didn’t happen right away, it took a little time for me to follow through. The thought was simultaneously exhilarating and terrifying. But about six months later, I was on my way to another Retreat, this time in Bali Indonesia. For the first time since I left college, I was a free agent! I had no idea what came next. I just knew that I could not keep going the way that I was, and that it was time for me to find myself again, outside of my title and the company I worked for. It was hard for some people closest to me to understand.

To the outside world my life looked successful, but internally I felt completely disconnected. I had spent years going at a pace that wasn’t sustainable, achieving, producing, performing, while pushing through exhaustion. Like so many women, I had mastered the art of holding everything together while losing touch with my own intuition in the process.

But in Bali, something shifted. Maybe it was the location, or the fact that I finally didn’t have multiple devices competing for my attention 24 / 7. What began as travel became transformation. There was an undeniable energy in the stillness there, the spirituality, the beauty, the rituals, the deep connection to presence and purpose. I began to relax. That experience became the catalyst for a complete reimagining of my life.

I returned home changed. I immersed myself in mindfulness, emotional intelligence, wellness, spirituality, and intuitive development, as practices that brought me back to my authentic self. The deeper I went into my own healing journey, the more I realized how many women were silently going through the same thing. Needing permission to pause, reconnect, and remember who they are beyond the multiple roles they play.

What emerged from that experience was The Mystic Wears Prada, a modern wellness and mindfulness brand rooted in the belief that connection to your intuition is not a luxury, but a necessity. My work now blends spirituality, emotional intelligence, creativity, and conscious leadership to help women navigate burnout, reconnect with their inner wisdom, and create lives aligned with purpose and authenticity.

Today, I’m passionate about creating spaces and experiences where women feel empowered to lead from alignment instead of exhaustion. Everything I create is grounded in the idea that true success is not just about what we accomplish, but how deeply connected we are to ourselves while accomplishing it.

I work with private clients, lead workshops and retreats, and consult with brands whose values are truly reflected in their actions. I also recently celebrated my second wedding anniversary.

When I finally made space in my life to actually have a life, everything changed. I ended up meeting the man of my dreams on a yoga retreat, where he happened to be the private chef. It felt serendipitous in the most beautiful way. Now we’re writing the next chapter together.

In a full circle moment I’m going back to Bali this October, leading my own retreat. I went there 10 years ago looking for answers with now idea what the future would hold, I just knew I needed a change. Now I get to help others create that shift for themselves. 2016 me never could’ve imagined how different my life would be!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not, but that is where the magic is! There have been several obstacles.. Having the courage to leave a job that was secure and well respected but not fulfilling or supportive of a balanced life was the biggest. Giving myself the time and space to figure out what I wanted and take the risk to build something of my own was terrifying. I wasn’t sure what it would look like on the other side when I started. I gave up a lot of stability and had to believe in myself. Entrepreneurship will most definitely reflect back at you every doubt, fear, and insecurity yo have about yourself. Finding community and the right support system is so important to help you get through.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Mystic Wears Prada?
The Mystic Wears Prada was born from my own journey through burnout, transformation, and reconnecting with my intuition. What started as a personal healing journey evolved into a brand and movement focused on helping women reconnect with themselves in a more meaningful and sustainable way.
My work blends mindfulness, emotional intelligence, wellness, intuitive development, and conscious living in a way that I hope feels modern, grounded, and approachable. I work with private clients, lead workshops and retreats, and collaborate with brands and organizations that value authenticity, purpose, and wellbeing.

What sets my work apart is the way I bridge worlds that are often kept separate. I bring together spirituality and strategy, intuition and leadership, wellness and real life. I understand burnout not just conceptually, but personally. My approach is rooted in authenticity, lived experience, and creating practical transformation that feels aligned and sustainable.

Some of my core offerings include:
• Private coaching and mentorship
• Mindfulness and emotional intelligence workshops
• Wellness and transformational retreats
• Corporate wellness and conscious leadership experiences
• Brand consulting and aligned partnerships
• Speaking engagements and curated community events

What I’m most proud of brand wise is that everything I create genuinely reflects my values. Every offering, partnership, and experience is intentional and rooted in connection, integrity, and purpose.

More than anything, I want people to know that The Mystic Wears Prada is about remembering who you are. My belief has always been that intuition is our greatest guide, and when we learn to trust it, everything begins to align more naturally.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is living and leading authentically. I believe so many people, especially women, spend years disconnected from themselves because they’ve been conditioned to prioritize productivity, expectations, and external validation over their own inner knowing. I don’t think we have to be or do just one thing. Everyone I know is multifaceted! Who told us that we had to pick a lane and give up on our other passions? Or that to be successful we couldn’t also make time for what lights us up. Connection is critical. Living and leading from a place where we show up as our true, audacious, authentic selves is what inspires others and allows them to do the same.
So often we look at people who we think are the epitome of success and think they have it all together. That’s not always how it works out behind the scenes. The people I know that are truly happy forge their own path, and define success on their own terms.
