Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Mora.
Hi Jennifer , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been in interior design for about 10 years now, and I truly love what I do. Creating beautiful, functional spaces has always been a passion of mine — something that actually started back in my fashion merchandising days and naturally evolved into interiors. I’ve always had an eye for creativity, styling, and how a space can completely affect the way people feel.
Today, I’m the founder of Mora Interior Design, a full-service interior design firm based in Miami, and we design homes throughout all of South Florida. We work on everything from full home renovations and remodels to kitchens, bathrooms, custom closets, furnishings, styling, lighting, and space planning. One thing I’m really proud of is that we work with all types of clients and budgets. I truly believe good design isn’t about how much money you spend — it’s about creating a home that feels beautiful, functional, personal, and reflective of the people living in it.
My style tends to lean warm, elevated, timeless, and inviting, but every project is tailored to the client’s lifestyle and vision. I’m very hands-on throughout the process and love helping clients transform not just their homes, but the way they live in them and experience their everyday spaces.
Now at 48, I’ve also been going through many of the life changes that come with this stage of life, and it made me realize how important it is to have a strong, supportive community around you. That’s what led me to start Babes Over 40
It’s a space for women to connect, be real, support one another, and actually enjoy this chapter of life. We do everything from wellness events and workouts to happy hours, brunches, networking events, and meaningful conversations. It has honestly become such a special community where women can relate, feel supported, and build genuine friendships.
In many ways, both of my worlds tie together. Whether I’m designing a home or building a community, it’s all about creating spaces that feel welcoming, inspiring, beautiful, and full of connection.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all — it’s definitely been a journey with a lot of ups and downs along the way. Building an interior design business comes with so much more than just being creative. There are constant challenges behind the scenes — managing clients, budgets, timelines, contractors, delays, expectations, and wearing multiple hats at once while still trying to deliver a high level of service and beautiful results.
Like many entrepreneurs and creatives, I’ve also gone through moments of self-doubt and questioning myself. I think people sometimes see the finished projects or the social media side of things and assume confidence comes naturally, but the truth is there are moments where you wonder if you’re making the right decisions, if you’re good enough, or if you can keep pushing through difficult seasons. Learning to trust myself, trust my vision, and grow through those moments has been one of the biggest parts of my journey.
There were also times where balancing work, personal life, and the emotional changes that come with this stage of life felt overwhelming. But honestly, those experiences are also what inspired me to create Babes Over 40. I realized so many women were feeling the same things — wanting connection, support, friendship, and a space where they could be themselves without judgment.
Growing both businesses from the ground up hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. I’ve learned that growth really comes from pushing through the uncomfortable moments, believing in yourself even when you’re uncertain, and surrounding yourself with positive people who uplift and inspire you.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
What I think truly sets me apart from other designers is the combination of creativity, personality, and connection I bring into everything I do. I’ve always had a strong eye for fashion, styling, color, and how to make things feel beautiful yet approachable. My background in fashion merchandising naturally transitioned into interiors, and I think that influence gives my projects a layered, curated feel that reflects both style and personality — not just trends.
But beyond design, I’m a very people-driven person. I’m naturally outgoing, extroverted, and love connecting with others, which allows me to really understand my clients on a deeper level. I’m known for creating spaces that feel elevated and stylish while still feeling warm, functional, and personal to the people living in them. I truly listen to my clients and focus on designing homes that reflect their lifestyle, energy, and story.
I also genuinely love networking, meeting new people, collaborating, and inspiring others creatively. I think clients are drawn not only to my eye for design, but also to the experience and energy I bring throughout the process. I want people to feel excited, comfortable, and inspired when working with me.
That same passion for connection is what led me to create Babes Over 40, a growing community for women over 40 centered around wellness, friendship, support, networking, and enjoying this stage of life together. What started as a simple idea quickly grew into something really meaningful, bringing women together through wellness events, workouts, happy hours, brunches, conversations, and real-life connection.
Honestly, both of my brands reflect who I am at my core — someone who loves creativity, beauty, people, inspiration, and building spaces where others feel welcomed, confident, connected, and seen.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Growing up, I’ve always been drawn to fashion and creativity. I loved putting outfits together, constantly wanting something new to wear, and expressing myself through style. That creativity naturally extended into my surroundings—I was always rearranging my bedroom, styling spaces, and even helping my friends with their outfits and rooms.
What I remember most is just always wanting to create and be around people. I’ve always been very social, outgoing, and naturally drawn to connecting with others. I loved meeting new people, talking, and building relationships—even as a child. I was definitely the chatterbox in class—so much so that I was always getting reprimanded for talking too much.
Looking back, it all makes sense—it was the early foundation of both my love for design and my passion for building community.
