Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Marmor.
Hi Joseph, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been in the food business since I was 12 years old in the family business. After graduating with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant management I worked in mostly 5 star hotels both is the US and abroad. In 1986 Le Chocolatier was brought to my attention as being for sale. It was a small hobby business and the owner could not dedicate the time needed to make a go of it. We bought the business and took it from a 500 sq. ft. operation to our own custom built building occupying 3,500 sq. ft. My wife joined me in 1995 and my son in 2023 to make it a real family business. We cater to wide audience of chocolate lovers and people who appreciate quality. Most of our base chocolate comes from Belgium and we pride ourselves in buying only from Fair Trade certified suppliers. Our selection contains over 120 different types of chocolates including truffles, caramels, nut barks and more. We offer a complete cycle of life menu of chocolate gifts from baby births to condolence baskets upon passing. Corporate baskets and platters are very important to us and we have an ability to create 4 color images on chocolate. These are great for holiday gifts and promotions. We also offer a hands on chocolate making experience for small groups, school groups, corporate team team building and birthdays. Chocolate is very versatile and we can be as creative as needed.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The latest price spikes in the price of cocoa has been a real challenge and of course covid as well. We are cyclical business and depend heavily of holidays. Trying to find ways to find new business during slow periods.
