Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Moffatt.
Hi Tyler, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The Story Behind Team No Tread
Team No Tread started pretty simply. It was just three of us trying to get as much seat time as possible, showing up to local tracks, learning as we went, and pushing our cars harder every time we drove. There was no big plan behind it. We weren’t trying to build a brand or a team, we just genuinely loved drifting and being around people who felt the same way. A lot of what shaped those early days was the environment. Long nights in the garage, fixing what broke, figuring things out the hard way, and then going right back out the next weekend. That’s where the foundation came from. It wasn’t polished, but it was real, and I think people connected with that. As time went on, more drivers started to take notice. It wasn’t just about how the cars looked or drove, it was the attitude. We weren’t trying to keep things exclusive or make it feel like you had to be at a certain level to be part of it. If you were willing to put in the work and had the same mindset, you were welcome. That openness is really what fueled the growth. Drivers from different backgrounds, different skill levels, and eventually different parts of the country started reaching out. Before we knew it, what began as three drivers had grown into something much bigger.
Where the Team Is Today
Now, Team No Tread has over 40 drivers representing the brand, not just across the United States but internationally as well. That kind of growth wasn’t something we set out to achieve, it happened naturally because people believed in what we were building. Even with that growth, the core hasn’t changed. We still focus on seat time, progression, and keeping the community aspect strong. It doesn’t matter if someone is just getting into drifting or has years of experience, everyone is held to the same standard in terms of effort, attitude, and how they represent the team. What’s been really rewarding is seeing how far the reach has gone. Drivers are repping Team No Tread in places we never expected, but they’re all connected by the same mentality that started with those first three cars.
Looking Ahead
Going forward, the goal is to keep building without losing what made it work in the first place. We want to keep expanding the team, reaching more drivers, and continuing to create opportunities for people to get involved in drifting. At the end of the day, it’s still about the same thing it was in the beginning. Getting behind the wheel, pushing limits, and being part of something bigger than just yourself.
That’s really what Team No Tread is about
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In the beginning, the biggest challenge was just resources. We were all trying to drift as much as possible while balancing normal life, work, and the cost that comes with the sport. Cars break, parts aren’t cheap, and there were plenty of times where we were fixing things last minute just to make an event, or missing seat time because something couldn’t get done in time. As the team started to grow, a different set of challenges came with it. Managing more drivers means managing different personalities, different skill levels, and making sure everyone is aligned with what the team stands for. Keeping that culture intact as you grow is probably one of the hardest parts, especially when you’re bringing in people from all over. There were also moments where we had to be selective. Not everyone who wants to be part of something like this is the right fit, and learning how to say no while still protecting what we built was a big step for us.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Team No Tread?
Team No Tread is more than just a drift team, it’s a community built around progression, respect, and a shared passion for the sport. What started as a small group of three drivers has grown into a global network of over 40 drivers, all representing the same mindset no matter where they’re from. At its core, what we do is simple. We bring drivers together, create opportunities for seat time, and build an environment where people can grow. It doesn’t matter if someone is brand new or highly experienced, what matters is their willingness to learn, push themselves, and represent the team the right way. We’ve created a space where drivers can develop not just their skills, but their identity within the sport. What sets Team No Tread apart is the culture. We’re not built on exclusivity or ego. We’re built on accessibility and effort. Anyone can look the part, but not everyone is willing to put in the time, the work, and the consistency it takes to really progress. That’s what we look for, and that’s what keeps the team strong as it grows. We’re also proud of how organic everything has been. There was never a forced push to become something bigger. The growth came from people believing in what we were doing and wanting to be part of it. That’s why we now have drivers representing the brand across the country and internationally, all connected by the same foundation that started with just three cars. Beyond the track, we’ve expanded into products that reflect the driving experience itself. One of the biggest examples of that is our ThrottLED light system. These are high-brightness LED strips mounted inside the car that react in real time to driver inputs like throttle, braking, and clutch. They pull data directly from the car’s sensors and translate it into a visual display, giving spectators a live look at exactly what the driver is doing behind the wheel. It adds a whole new layer to drifting. Not just style, but visibility, helping people understand the precision and control that goes into every run. It’s something that bridges the gap between driver and audience, and it represents exactly what we’re about—making the sport more engaging, more accessible, and more connected.
At the end of the day, what we want people to know is that Team No Tread is about more than driving sideways. It’s about progression, community, and building something real that lasts.
How do you think about luck?
Luck has played a role, but not in the way people usually think. We’ve definitely had moments where things lined up at the right time—meeting the right people at events, getting exposure when we weren’t expecting it, or having opportunities come from simply being in the right place. That kind of timing matters, especially in a sport like drifting where everything is built on connections and presence. But the truth is, none of that would have meant anything if we weren’t already putting in the work. The long nights, the broken parts, the constant effort to improve, and the commitment to building a real culture—that’s what made those moments count. A lot of people wait for luck to show up. We’ve always focused more on being ready when it does. If anything, luck has just been the spark here and there, but everything else has been built through consistency, effort, and the people who believed in what we were doing early on.
