Today we’d like to introduce you to Darren Anselmo & Lupita Ferrer.
Hi Darren and Lupita, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Well, it’s a pretty interesting story and I feel faith brought my business partner and I together
Last May 2025 I was invited to a SAG AFTRA dinner hosted by Telemundo. I was in a few projects for Telemundo as an actor so I was inner system.
The dinner was for SAG members which I was not. I don’t know how but I got invited to this dinner via email.. I was not planning on going being technically I wasn’t supposed to be there.
When the evening came, I was not doing anything so I decided you know what let me go to the dinner. So then I went.
When I got there, I just walked in like I belong there, dressed in a suit and no one said a thing. I guess I look like a star lol.
Then a little while later, a lady actress walks in, and we started talking. We we’re getting along great and wound up sitting next to each other for the dinner.
We started talking some more and she told me that she was a famous Venezuelan actress. I was like OK didn’t really know of her, but that was OK. I was thinking to myself it would be great if I can get in a movie or TV show with her. So I mentioned that to her lol gotta take opportunities when they come
We took some pictures together and exchange numbers. A few days later, she contacted me and said that she was thinking about what I told her of me being a licensed cosmetologist , salon owner and businessman before I got into acting and that she always had a idea of starting her own cosmetic line because of her natural beauty and never having any type of cosmetic surgery, especially on her face. That’s what she’s known for.
Of course I said yes, let’s do it. Let’s start a beauty line. Never actually starting a beauty line before, but knowing a few things about business, I got right to work.
I said we have to meet and sign a contract together, we will both be 50-50 partners, and everything will be decided equally. Lupita agreed, and we met at the bank to notarize all our papers. After that I got to work on our LLC filings . After that, we decided on a name together, and we called it ETERNAL BEAUTY by Lupita Ferrer. The first product we decided on what’s going to be an overnight face cream called Night Boost cream .
Then I had to register all the different domains, social media accounts, and everything associated with advertising our new product line.
After coming up with a name then we started meeting with different laboratories to discuss our formulations for the beauty cream.
It took months of going back-and-forth testing different formulations to get the perfect combination.
We finally reached our goals on the formulation and went into production. It took months of package design, the correct sizes that we wanted to introduce, etc. etc.
Then a few months later, which is present time we finally got our first shipment in of ETERNAL BEAUTY by Lupita Ferrer Night boost Cream. So things don’t happen overnight, but I feel we did pretty good in timing to have a full product in less than a year!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Most of the process has been a smooth road. But you know nothing can be totally smooth and we did have a few rocky moments while meeting with different laboratories on the formulation.
We were getting samples that just were not cutting it. They were either too thick, to watery, didn’t smell right, but we knew that we wanted to put out the perfect product for the consumer that will hold up to its name and represent Lupita’s natural beauty.. So it was a bit frustrating during those times but we overcame it and that’s what got us here now.. Consistency. You have to stay consistent and achieve your original goal. You always have to keep that in mind what your original goal was that got you all excited in the first place. Sometimes people go off that path and go astray and become un encouraged and disappointed the way things are going at the time. But if you go back to the original reason why you wanted to start in the first place it will get you back into that frame of mind
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Ever since I was a young kid, I always wanted to be in business for myself. My father was a cook in the army and when he got out, he started his first pizzeria/Italian restaurant. So watching him, I always knew I wanted to have my own business.
When I was in ninth grade, I quit school and got my GED. I felt I didn’t wanna sit there and waste time. I wanted to get right to work on my future. I opened a lawn service business that was very successful, sold it and did some investing in real estate . I went to the Broward County fire Academy, and became a firefighter, did that for a little while, I worked as an elevator mechanic, and went to hair school to become a cosmetologist at night.
One of the evenings we had to do a section on nails. And we had to do each other’s nails so I had another student paint my nails blue with green stripes. The next day I went to my first elevator service at a fancy building in Miami. The property manager saw me with a nail polish and immediately called my supervisor. Which led into me being fired. That would’ve been a big issue and today’s day, but this was 30 years ago and there wasn’t any kind of repercussions for bosses doing that.
Anyway, I told my wife hey I lost my job had a collar from the landline because we didn’t have cell phones at the time. And she was very upset because we just bought our first house but I told her I am going to go get a job ASAP.
I looked in the Yellow Pages and found the biggest hair salon in Fort Lauderdale so I decided to go there and try to get a job. They hired me on the spot and that started off my beauty career. After that, I bought an old bar in Fort Lauderdale and turned it into a hair salon. After 10 successful years, I decided to trade that building and business for a farm in Davie. That’s where I grew, Rare and Exotic fruit trees, had chickens for eggs, had bees for honey, and had a farmers market with an Ice Cream Shop . After 10 years of successful business there, my wife and I decided to sell that and just get a townhouse and retire. I was very bored and didn’t know what to do and that’s when I decided to become an actor. And that brings us to today’s story of my beauty product business. It’s crazy how one thing leads to another to get you to the point that you’re in now. Without all those experiences, I would never have got to this point.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Well, I mean many people deserve credit getting me to where I am at this point. My Mom , Dad , people I worked with in the past, definitely my spouse Gloria that I’ve been with since 17 years old, my two daughters Ariela and Sabrina. And God for blessing me with the path that he put me on.
But most definitely for this particular project in business it would definitely Lupita Ferrer who asked the first question of hey would you be interested in doing this beauty business with me.
She is an amazing actress that has many many credits in her past and has been doing this since she was a young girl. Now at 79 years old, she wants to be able to use all her experiences and put it toward this business.
She is definitely known for her beauty and she says she gets it from the product she uses, but also her mom who was also a beautiful woman. She says it’s the way you maintain your skin how it maintains you.
