Check Out Eric Firestone’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Firestone.

Hi Eric, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Real estate has been around me my whole life. My parents had the insight to purchase multiple rental properties, so collecting rent, helping to fix household items that broke down, doing refreshes and some remodels on the home during a turnover, all became an acquired skillset. In college, I not only rented a home, but later worked in a sublease capability in order to assist the landlord and use the handyman skills to his benefit. After teaching for four years, I bought my first home. thus completing my residential real estate circle, and suddenly, I found I had a knack for researching and negotiating. Unfortunately, the agent who was helping me did very little during the transaction, which then provided me with insight into opportunity. As my net pay for teaching had slowly been declining through inflation, health care increases and lack of raises, I decided to get my real estate license in 2013, Since then, I have been learning everything I could about the industry, and giving back, whenever I could. I became a manager of my second brokerage, and now, I am a branch leader for Avanti Way Realty. As I have been slowly turning my attention towards our global market, I also got my travel agent’s license in order to help people save money on their short term stays needed. Curating the entire experience to each customer, and developing my harmony and homes experience, in 2025, I decided to leave teaching completely, after 19 years.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life is all about struggles, and learning to overcome them. Struggles are opportunities, and if there were no struggles, then life would just be complacent. Looking at the numerous struggles throughout my career thus far, I am grateful for them as they helped shape me who I am today, as an advisor, branch leader and educator. For example, I remember my first high net worth individual. Wanting to provide, what I believed at the time, to be the highest service possible, once we found a home they loved, we negotiated a great offer and moved into the inspection period. The inspection revealed some unfavorable conditions to the home, considering the renovations. Immediately, I went in to negotiation mode and worked with the sellers’s agent and came to an extremely favorable credit for my buyers. Unfortunately, this action was perceived by the buyers to mean that I thought about the transaction more than I thought about their wishes and along with the cancelled contract, I had cancelled clients. This really caused me to re-evaluate my process and ensure that my actions always align with what my client wants, not what I think they will want. While it is important to anticipate a clients needs, orchestrating those actions along with the desires of the client is an art form.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I mentioned that I taught for 19 years, what I didn’t reveal was the subject. Before real estate, I spent nearly two decades building award-winning choral programs, leading diverse personalities toward a unified performance under pressure. That foundation continues to shape my work today. Success is rarely accidental. It is prepared. Sequenced. Calibrated. Executed with discipline. Residential real estate is one of life’s most meaningful transitions. The stakes are high, the information can be overwhelming, and the emotional weight is often underestimated. My role is to bring clarity where there is complexity and composure where there could be chaos, ensuring every decision is intentional, informed, and aligned with your long-term objectives. Clients often share that what distinguishes the experience is not simply the result, but the composure throughout the process. Clear expectations. Transparent communication. Measured adjustments when necessary. No theatrics. No guesswork. Another part of my business that is unique is my incorporation of music, whether creating “music videos” where I highlight different portions of the home while singing, or ensuring the chosen background music is trending in order to help create an up-circle of impressions on social media, resulting in higher views and faster sales for my sellers.

I coach agents the same way I coached musicians for 19 years: individualized paths, disciplined systems, and a strong community. The goal isn’t to make everyone the same. It’s to help each person reach their own highest level of performance. Agents today don’t need more noise, they need structure, leadership, and systems that actually support growth. Every training session I try to focus on actionable steps for my agents to implement into their own business, aside from being available to them in between. We commit together to accountability sessions, helping them stay aligned with their aspirations.

What makes you happy?
While helping people has always brought my heart joy, my outside of work happiness lies with my wife, Anjane Girwarr, who is a professional singer and voice instructor at the University of Miami. Getting to travel and experience the world, through its cultural and culinary diversity, while also seeing the beautiful landscapes and historical architectures brings me immense happiness. I also enjoy going for walks around various parts of South Miami, Coral Gables and Pinecrest with our two dogs, Newt and Aruna. Not only do we get to see Miami from a different viewpoint through walking, it also provides us a concentrated space to connect with each other.
