Hi Zaur, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My background in event production began with the Baku Sunset brand in Boston, where I built a reputation for high-end social experiences. Upon moving to Florida, I teamed up with my partner, Paul Murad, to channel that “know-how” into a new venture: Miami Events HQ.
Together, we’ve evolved the original concept to fit the city’s dynamic market, focusing primarily on premier corporate events. By combining the operational precision I mastered in Boston with our shared vision for the Miami scene, we now provide professional, high-impact event solutions for the corporate world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been an exciting journey, but certainly not without its hurdles. Transitioning a successful brand from one city to another is never a simple “copy and paste” job.
The Network Challenge
I spent 30 years in Boston building a deep-rooted network of people and businesses. When you have three decades of relationships, things happen through a single phone call. Moving to Miami four years ago meant starting that process from scratch. While Paul and I have hit the ground running, we are still very much in the process of building that same level of local “connective tissue” here.
The Strategic Pivot
The biggest shift has been moving from the social-focused “Baku Sunset” model in Boston to a primarily corporate-driven concept with Miami Events HQ. Corporate events require a completely different level of precision—from navigating complex contracts to meeting the specific ROI needs of large companies.
The Early Wins
Despite being in the “jumpstart” phase, the road has been paved with some incredible milestones. We’ve already managed to connect with and bring on board several international brands and industry giants. Proving our value to these major players this early on shows that our Boston “know-how” translates perfectly to the Miami market, even if we’re still expanding our local rolodex.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
In my view, risk is the fundamental currency of entrepreneurship. Without it, there is no payout. To build something as ambitious as Miami Events HQ, Paul and I had to be willing to put our reputations and resources on the line to jumpstart a brand in one of the most competitive markets in the world.
However, there is a massive difference between being a gambler and being a strategist.
Calculated Risk & The Backup Plan
Coming from 20 years in Finance managing multi-million dollar corporate budgets, I don’t take “blind” risks. My philosophy is rooted in calculated risk. Every move we make is backed by data, market research, and a clear understanding of the “why.” We believe in working smart, which means we never launch a project without a rock-solid “Plan B” and “Plan C” in our back pocket.
The Major Risk: Starting Over
The biggest risk I’ve taken was pivoting from a 30-year established network in Boston to start fresh in Miami four years ago. Leaving a “sure thing” to build a new company where I was still an outsider was a leap of faith. But by partnering with Paul Murad and leveraging his real estate expertise alongside my financial background, we transformed that risk into a strategic advantage.
