Exploring Life & Business with Brittany Dash of Dash Veterinary Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Dash.

Hi Brittany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m really the classic animal-lover turned veterinarian. My love for animals started when I was growing up—my mom always had pets in our home, and that environment really shaped how I see animals and the bond we share with them. Now that I’m a mom myself, it’s important to me to pass that same sense of compassion and respect for animals on to my daughter.

My path into veterinary medicine also started very early. I began working in veterinary clinics as a kennel technician, where I spent my days walking dogs and cleaning cages. It was very hands-on work, but it gave me my first real look into the veterinary world. Over time, I worked my way up to becoming a veterinary assistant, where I began helping with appointments and working more closely with veterinarians and clients. Those early experiences really confirmed that this was the career I wanted to pursue.

I attended Florida International University in Miami, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. From there, I went on to earn my veterinary degree from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating, I moved back to South Florida to be close to family and friends.

During my years in general practice, I developed a special interest in geriatric medicine and managing chronic conditions. Senior pets often need extra patience, attention, and tender loving care, and that really resonated with me. Caring for them and supporting their families through those later stages of life became one of the most meaningful parts of my work.

Over time, my passion for veterinary medicine has only grown. I truly believe that pets are incredibly pure-hearted and selfless, and they deserve the very best care we can give them. My goal has always been to support pets and their families through every stage of life, making sure they feel cared for and supported along the way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Veterinary medicine is a very demanding field, and it often comes with long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. One of the biggest challenges for me was balancing work with my studies during both undergrad and veterinary school.

While I was in school, I continued working in veterinary clinics, which sometimes made for very long days. Juggling classes, studying, and clinic shifts required a lot of discipline and strong time management, and there were certainly times when it felt overwhelming.

At the same time, working in the clinic while I was learning in school turned out to be incredibly valuable. It allowed me to immediately apply what I was learning in the classroom to real patients and real situations. That experience helped keep my skills sharp and gave me a deeper understanding of the practical side of veterinary medicine, while also helping me develop efficiency and time-management skills that I still rely on today.

Veterinary medicine can also be emotionally challenging. We work very closely with both pets and their families, and sometimes we’re supporting people through very difficult moments. Learning how to navigate those emotional aspects of the job and still show up with compassion and empathy has been an important part of the journey as well.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Dash Veterinary Services?
Dash Veterinary Services is a limited-service mobile veterinary practice that I created to provide specialized care for pets in the comfort of their own homes. My work focuses primarily on in-home hospice and end-of-life care, as well as international health certificates for pets traveling abroad.

I started Dash Veterinary Services because I saw a need for more personalized veterinary care during some of the most important moments in a pet’s life. When families are facing difficult decisions or preparing to say goodbye to a beloved pet, being in a familiar environment can make an incredible difference. Allowing pets to remain comfortable at home creates a more peaceful experience for both the pet and the family.

A large part of my practice is devoted to guiding families through those final stages of life with compassion and dignity. One thing I often tell clients is that saying goodbye to a pet is one of the hardest parts of loving them, and my role is to make that process as gentle, supportive, and peaceful as possible.

I also specialize in international health certificates, helping families navigate the often complex requirements involved in traveling overseas with their pets. The process can involve strict timelines, documentation, and government regulations, so I work closely with pet owners to make sure everything is handled smoothly and correctly.

What sets Dash Veterinary Services apart is the very personal approach I take with each client. Because I provide care in the home, I’m able to spend more time with families and create a calm, supportive environment. Clients often tell me that my calm and caring demeanor helps them feel more at ease during emotional or stressful situations, and I strive to combine that compassion with a strong foundation in companion animal medicine.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is building a practice centered around compassion and trust. Every pet I meet holds a special place in my heart, and my goal is always to provide thoughtful, individualized care that honors the deep bond people share with their animals.

At the end of the day, I want people to know that Dash Veterinary Services exists to support pets and their families during some of life’s most meaningful moments—whether that’s helping them travel the world together or guiding them through a peaceful goodbye at home.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is meeting pets and the families who care so deeply for them. It’s no secret that I love animals, but one of the most rewarding parts of my work is connecting with people who share that same love and commitment to their pets.

Every day I have the opportunity to meet families who truly want to do what’s best for their animals, and that’s incredibly meaningful to me. Unfortunately, not every pet in the world is lucky enough to have a loving home, so when I see owners who are willing to go above and beyond for their pets, I really try to appreciate those moments.

It reminds me how strong the human–animal bond can be. Being able to support families who want to give their pets the best life possible—and to help them through both the happy and difficult moments—is one of the most fulfilling parts of what I do.
