Today we’d like to introduce you to Brent.
Hi Brent, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana—skateboarding, playing music, and making art. I came up around the skate and graffiti scene, and that’s what pushed me into graphic design. I taught myself Photoshop first, then Illustrator, and started designing graphics for friends’ skateboard brands and clothing lines. Over time, I helped brand more than 15 skateboard companies, including my own.
But I also went down a destructive path. For over 15 years I struggled with addiction—IV heroin, crack cocaine, and alcoholism. I lost businesses, jobs, cars, friendships—pretty much everything. Eventually I hit a point of desperation and knew I needed real help.
That led me to Faith Farm Ministries in Fort Lauderdale, where I found recovery and a relationship with God. The community and unconditional love there changed my life. After completing the 10-month program, I stayed on as an intern and later joined staff, launching their online bookstore. That experience taught me business fundamentals and operational structure. I spent three years there, met my wife, and we got married.
During that same season, I began working toward a Bachelor’s in Graphic Design at Full Sail University. Full Sail sharpened my skills, taught me the “rules” of design, and helped me grow professionally and through networking.
After moving to Miami, I worked in a local wrap shop and built real-world experience in commercial printing and vehicle wraps. After a year and seven months, I took the leap and opened my own shop in North Miami Beach: Imprint, a high-impact print and branding company. We create everything from logos and business cards to full commercial wraps, race car liveries, brand systems, and websites.
It hasn’t been easy—especially while finishing my degree and becoming a father. My wife and I had our son, Kai, and that shifted how I see time and responsibility. I also started noticing how inefficient and overly complicated the print and branding process is for most business owners. So I built Imprint around a simple idea: streamline the process, communicate clearly, and deliver premium-quality work without the runaround—so business owners can get high-end results with a clean, professional experience
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No — it hasn’t been a smooth road, and it still isn’t. We built Imprint from the ground up. I’ve been fortunate to do it alongside my business partner, Paulo Fernandes, who brings the stability and day-to-day structure that lets me stay focused on the growth side of the business—CRM systems, website work, advertising, marketing, and building our presence online.
One of the biggest ongoing struggles is learning when to say no. In printing and wraps, a lot of clients want rush timelines, but we’re not interested in producing fast work that sacrifices craftsmanship. Our standard is quality and durability, and that requires proper production time, careful prep, and detail-focused installation.
So the challenge becomes education: helping clients understand that time equals quality, and quality is what protects their brand and their investment.
My biggest challenge as a new business owner has been learning to balance family, work, and personal health. When you’re building something from scratch, the business can easily take every hour you have. But becoming a husband and a father forced me to look at time differently—because success doesn’t mean much if you’re not present at home or you’re running yourself into the ground.
I’m still learning how to set boundaries, protect focused work time, and also protect time for my family and my own growth. That balance is ongoing, but it’s become one of the most important parts of building the company the right way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work sits at the intersection of art, design, and large-format production. I specialize in murals, high-impact brand visuals, and premium wraps—projects that live in the real world at full scale, where details and craftsmanship actually matter.
One of the projects I’m most proud of is being part of the team that wraps the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix car each year. It’s high-pressure, high-standard work, and I get to collaborate within a corporate-level production structure to deliver some of the best design and wrap quality in Miami and South Florida. I also love being connected to the local race community through that process.
On the art side, I’m most known for my mural work. I love painting large walls and building pieces that feel bold, intentional, and alive in a space. Recently, I completed a major two-wall mural at Horace Mann Middle School in El Portal, Florida—the largest mural project I’ve handled solo so far, and a milestone I’m genuinely proud of.
What sets me apart is honesty, integrity, and intentionality. I tend to overthink—in a good way. I work through a project from start to finish in my head, spot weak points early, and refine the process until the final result is clean, durable, and built to last.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
If there’s anything else I’d add, it’s that I wouldn’t be where I am without my wife, Cindy. Behind every entrepreneur is someone who carries real weight with them—and for me, that’s Cindy.
She supports and inspires me through every season: when I’m strong, when I’m struggling, when things are exciting, and when they’re heavy. She celebrates with me, cries with me, and works beside me—whether that means late nights until 2 a.m. or early mornings up at 4 a.m. making sure I’m ready for the day.
Imprint is something we’ve built with teamwork, faith, and a lot of sacrifice—and I’m deeply grateful for her. I truly couldn’t do this without you, Cindy. You’re my love and my pride and joy.
