Today we’d like to introduce you to Esperanza Solar.
Hi Esperanza, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my artistic journey for the most part in March of 2020 as an attempt of hand-creating some birthday gifts for my Mami, I made her a few crystal and charm bracelets, and I fell in love with the craft of jewelry making. I moved to resin, have explored with a bit of air dry clay but have always come back to crystals. I have settled into firmer, tarnish resistant metals and beautiful crystals like Tourmalines, Rainbow Moonstone, Labradorite and Ethiopian Opals.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been smooth, I think most of my struggles have been in allowing my full authentic creativity to present itself to me along with staying encouraged when I feel like giving up and when I compare myself to another’s journey. I am a believer that those moments and emotions are also meant to teach us something, so I tend to pause and give myself some breathing room to reconnect with myself again.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in and am known for intentionally hand assembling crystals into wearable jewelry. I have always loved crystals, learning about how they’re formed in and on our beautiful Earth and in some cases in outer space, their power and beauty and I believe they can be companions in our lives especially when we need them the most. I am deeply proud of the creative work I do because growing up I never believed I was creative at all, but I am happy that life proved me wrong. I find deep joy in making something beautiful and powerful that will hopefully help others feel beautiful and powerful.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Absolutely! I believe to be an artist/entrepreneur/founder/ HUMAN every move is a risk. My examples may sound silly but signing up for local markets is a risk in my eyes as we never truly know what the turnout or weather or crowd may be. Along with where we source materials, tools, and crystals especially online as they can be marked as one thing but turn out to be another. However, I do believe taking risks are necessary for putting yourself out there and letting the Universe know you are open to beautiful opportunities to happen because they usually do,
