Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Libian.
Hi Nick, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey toward finding the most holistic path to healing the body:
During my time working as a chemist at a large biopharmaceutical company, I had a realization that completely changed the direction of my career.
I began to see how much of modern healthcare is focused on managing symptoms rather than identifying and correcting the underlying cause of the problem. That experience forced me to ask a question that ultimately reshaped my entire path as a doctor: What if healthcare started by asking why the problem exists in the first place?
My interest in healthcare actually began much earlier, during my time in the Medical Sciences Academy at West Boca Raton Community High School, a highly regarded magnet program focused on healthcare training. During my time there, I earned certifications as a Medical Assistant, Electrocardiogram Technician, Medical Laboratory Assistant, and Emergency Medical Responder. I also completed clinical rotations at West Boca Medical Center, private medical offices, and local fire stations, where I had the opportunity to observe surgeries, emergency situations, and many different aspects of healthcare. Those early experiences only strengthened my ambition to pursue medicine.
After graduating in 2015, I attended Florida Atlantic University to study Neuroscience in preparation for medical school. I was extremely focused on that goal and accelerated my coursework, completing my undergraduate degree in three years. I then used my fourth year to earn a Master’s degree in Biomedical Science at FAU’s medical school to further strengthen my preparation.
During graduate school, I conducted biomedical research that was later published in the American Journal of Physiology – Cell Physiology in a paper titled “Contribution of Pannexin Channels to Afterimage Signals in the Amphibian Retina.” My training during this time was deeply rooted in neuroscience, physiology, and biomedical research—the same scientific foundation that initially led me toward medical school. I also served as President of FAU’s Neuroscience Club, where I expanded the club’s mission to help other pre-med students better understand the often confusing medical school application process.
However, during this time a question kept coming back to me: why does so much of modern healthcare focus on managing symptoms instead of identifying and correcting the root cause of the problem?
Symptoms are signals. My job as a doctor is to find out why the signal exists.
After completing my master’s degree in 2020, I took a position as a chemist at a large biopharmaceutical company while waiting to hear back from medical schools. That experience gave me a behind-the-scenes look at how parts of the healthcare system operate. What I saw confirmed the concerns I had begun to develop. Too often, the system prioritizes symptom management over long-term solutions, and preventative care rarely becomes the main focus.
Seeing this firsthand led me to make one of the biggest decisions of my life: stepping away from the traditional medical path and pursuing chiropractic instead.
That decision ultimately led me to open Align Chiropractic Spine and Wellness, a corrective chiropractic clinic in Coral Springs, to help people who are searching for lasting solutions instead of temporary symptom relief..
That decision surprised a lot of people around me. Friends, colleagues, and even some family members initially questioned the choice. Chiropractic is widely misunderstood, and many people only know it through stereotypes or misinformation. But the more I studied the human body, the more convinced I became that health care should start by asking one simple question: what is actually causing the problem?
I was accepted to Logan University’s College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri, where that philosophy truly came to life. Chiropractors study the same foundational sciences as other healthcare professionals—anatomy, physiology, neurology, radiology, and biomechanics—but the focus is different. Instead of asking how to quiet symptoms, we ask why those symptoms developed in the first place and how to correct the underlying cause.
The nervous system controls nearly every function in the body. When the spine or surrounding structures interfere with that communication, the body often responds with pain, dysfunction, or compensation patterns. Pain is not random—it is a signal. A doctor’s job is to interpret that signal deeply enough to understand what started it, where it originated, and how to correct it.
In 2025, I opened Align Chiropractic Spine and Wellness in Coral Springs with the goal of helping people experience what root-cause-focused care can truly look like.
At our clinic, every patient receives highly personalized care supported by objective data. Digital X-rays guide my adjustments with precision, and we combine that information with posture analysis, detailed consultations, and comprehensive physical exams. The goal is simple: remove the guesswork and understand exactly what is happening in each patient’s body.
Many of the problems people struggle with—chronic pain, sciatica, headaches, migraines, digestive issues, numbness, and tingling—are signals that something deeper needs to be addressed. My mission with Align Chiropractic Spine and Wellness is to help patients uncover those root causes and correct them so they can live healthier, more active lives.
Ultimately, my goal is to show the communities of Coral Springs, Parkland, and the surrounding areas what modern chiropractic care is truly capable of and to help people take a more proactive role in their long-term health.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all—there were definitely challenges along the way.
One of the biggest hurdles came when I made the decision to shift from the traditional pre-medical path toward becoming a Chiropractic Physician. That decision required a lot of personal reflection about the kind of doctor I wanted to become, but it also came with skepticism from people around me. Many of my friends and colleagues at the time were on the pre-med track, and within those circles there is often a strong stigma against chiropractic. Choosing a different direction meant accepting that some people would question that decision.
That experience taught me an important lesson: sometimes the right path is the one that requires the most conviction to follow.
In many ways, overcoming that pressure became an important part of my own personal and professional growth.
Another challenge came during my chiropractic training itself. Chiropractic is a very broad profession, with many different philosophies and techniques. At some point, every chiropractor has to determine what their approach to patient care will truly be.
During my training, I discovered Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), widely regarded as the most advanced diagnostic and treatment system in chiropractic. SOT focuses on analyzing how the spine, pelvis, and nervous system interact in order to identify the underlying cause of dysfunction rather than simply addressing symptoms.
Because of that, I chose to pursue advanced training in the technique and was mentored by two of the world’s most respected SOT experts, Dr. Joe Unger and Dr. Mary Unger-Boyd. Through their mentorship, I ultimately earned international certification in the technique, placing me among a relatively small group of chiropractors worldwide with that distinction.
Looking back, those challenges helped shape the way I practice today. They pushed me to be very intentional about the kind of doctor I wanted to become and reinforced my commitment to providing care that focuses on identifying and correcting the root cause of a patient’s problem rather than simply managing symptoms.
As you know, we’re big fans of Align Chiropractic Spine and Wellness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I founded Align Chiropractic Spine and Wellness in Coral Springs with a very specific mission: to help people better understand what “root cause” healthcare really means. Many people believe chiropractic is simply about relieving back pain, but in reality it can be much deeper than that.
At our clinic, every patient receives highly personalized care supported by objective data. We use in-house digital X-rays, advanced posture analysis software, detailed consultations, and comprehensive physical examinations to understand exactly what is happening in the body before beginning treatment. Those findings guide every adjustment I perform so that care is precise and intentional rather than based on guesswork.
This type of objective, data-driven approach is still relatively uncommon in many chiropractic offices, but it allows us to provide a much more precise and individualized level of care.
Many of the conditions people struggle with—chronic pain, sciatica, headaches, migraines, digestive issues, numbness, and tingling—are signals that something deeper is happening within the body. My approach is centered on identifying and correcting that underlying cause so patients can experience long-term improvements rather than temporary relief.
I specialize in Corrective Chiropractic and Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT). Corrective Chiropractic focuses on restoring the structure and function of the spine through personalized care plans guided by X-rays and supported by targeted spinal rehabilitation exercises. The goal is not just to improve symptoms, but to help reverse underlying structural problems that may have developed over time.
Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) complements this approach by allowing for a deeper analysis of how the spine, pelvis, cranium, and nervous system interact. This makes it especially valuable for complex or persistent conditions that may be difficult to identify through more conventional methods. Through SOT, I am able to evaluate and address areas such as the cranium, TMJ, and other systems of the body that are closely connected to spinal and neurological health.
In addition to hands-on chiropractic care, I also incorporate several advanced therapies to support healing. Non-surgical spinal decompression helps relieve pressure on spinal discs and nerves, while shockwave therapy helps break down scar tissue and adhesions that often contribute to chronic conditions such as frozen shoulder or plantar fasciitis.
For patients who want to take a deeper look at their overall health, I also offer nutrigenomic testing. Through a simple cheek swab, this testing analyzes how an individual’s genetics influence areas such as metabolism, immune function, and overall wellness. The results allow for highly personalized nutritional recommendations and supplementation designed to support each patient’s unique biology.
In the near future, Align Chiropractic Spine and Wellness will expand to include additional services that support the corrective care process. These include physical therapy, massage therapy, Class IV laser therapy, Foot Levelers custom orthotics, and customized pillows designed to support proper spinal alignment. Our physical therapy services will be led by my wife, Dr. Brianna Carbrey, a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Ultimately, my goal is to provide the communities of Coral Springs, Parkland, and the surrounding areas with a comprehensive, root-cause-focused approach to healthcare that helps people move better, feel better, and live healthier lives for the long term.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is that my patients truly feel heard and understood, and that they receive the time, education, and care they deserve.
Over the years, I’ve met many patients who say the same thing: “No one has ever explained this to me before.” Moments like that reinforce how important it is for patients to feel seen, listened to, and involved in understanding their own health.
In many healthcare settings today, appointments can feel rushed and transactional. Patients often leave with prescriptions or brief instructions, but without a clear understanding of what is actually happening in their body or why their symptoms developed in the first place. I believe patients deserve more than that.
To me, being a doctor means taking the time to listen carefully, educate patients about their condition, and work with them to identify the true root cause of the problem. Every person’s body and health history are different, and effective care should reflect that. Patients should never feel like they are simply another number on a schedule or a name in a chart.
I also believe that meaningful results come from genuine passion and dedication to the work. When a doctor is truly invested in helping their patients improve their health, they go beyond cookie-cutter solutions and take the extra steps needed to find answers and create lasting change.
Ultimately, what matters most to me is helping people regain control over their health and giving them the knowledge and tools they need to live healthier lives long into the future.
