Inspiring Conversations with Janessa Sanderson of Golden Palm Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janessa Sanderson.

Hi Janessa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Photography began as a creative outlet and quickly evolved into a calling. I founded Golden Palm Photography with a clear vision: to create refined, emotive imagery that preserves life’s most meaningful milestones. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of photographing weddings, maternity sessions, and family portraits throughout South Florida, building a brand known for timeless style and genuine connection.

My journey has been shaped by growth, resilience, and a deep appreciation for how quickly seasons of life pass. As both an artist and a mother, I approach every session with intention and empathy, focusing on authentic moments rather than trends. Today, my work reflects a balance of elegance and honesty, capturing images that feel natural, and timeless.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a completely smooth road, and I think that is true for most meaningful journeys. Building a business requires far more than creativity. It demands resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to grow through uncertainty. There were seasons of financial pressure, moments of self-doubt, and the constant challenge of balancing entrepreneurship with motherhood.

The photography industry is also highly competitive, especially in the South Florida wedding and family market. Standing out required refining my craft, elevating my client experience, and continually investing in both artistic and business development. There were times when I had to pivot, rebrand, and rethink my strategy in order to align my work with the level of excellence I wanted to represent.

Each challenge strengthened my perspective. The struggles taught me discipline, clarity, and confidence in my vision. They also deepened my empathy for my clients, many of whom are navigating important transitions in their own lives. In many ways, the difficult seasons shaped the foundation of the brand I have today.

We’ve been impressed with Golden Palm Photography, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Golden Palm Photography is a South Florida–based photography brand specializing in weddings, maternity, and family portraiture. My work is rooted in refined, timeless imagery that captures genuine emotion with elegance. I focus on creating photographs that feel natural yet sophisticated, blending soft editorial direction with authentic, unscripted moments.

What sets my brand apart is the experience. My approach is both artistic and structured, allowing clients to feel guided while still fully themselves in front of the camera.

I am known for clean, luminous imagery and the ability to capture meaningful in-between moments that often go unnoticed. My wedding work reflects romance and refinement, while my maternity and family sessions emphasize connection and warmth without feeling overly posed.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of the reputation I have built for professionalism, consistency, and trust. Clients return for multiple milestones because they value not only the final images, but the care behind them. Golden Palm Photography represents more than beautiful photographs. It represents a commitment to preserving life’s most important chapters with intention, artistry, and integrity.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I would simply encourage readers to document their lives intentionally. The seasons we are in right now, even the imperfect or transitional ones, are the moments we will one day treasure most. Photography is not about perfection. It is about preservation.

As an artist and business owner, I remain committed to evolving, refining my craft, and serving my clients with excellence. My goal is always to create work that feels meaningful long after the moment has passed. If there is one thing I hope readers take away, it is that their stories deserve to be captured with care, beauty, and authenticity.
